Mechanical cleaning: pros and cons. Should I do facial cleansing: pros and cons

Let's be completely honest - cleansing your facial skin is in no way a pleasant cosmetic procedure. And if for some it only causes slight discomfort, then others go to the cosmetologist’s office as if it were torture. Whether it's a gentle massage or a moisturizing mask that saturates the skin with the desired moisture... Unfortunately, neither expensive cleansers nor exfoliating creams can replace cleansing - they will not give a decent effect. And if they do, alas, it won’t be for long.

FIFTY - FIFTY...

Cosmetologists still do not have a consensus on which cleaning method is better and whether this procedure is necessary at all. And therefore their opinions were divided exactly half. Thus, 50% of independent professionals firmly believe that with regular and proper facial skin care, unpleasant manipulations with the use of all sorts of spoons and hooks can be completely avoided. And please yourself and those around you with a fresh and even complexion without scars - the most common consequences of the inept hands of an unscrupulous cosmetologist. But what about the other half of no less authoritative experts who believe that only cleansing can keep the skin in good condition? And what, they say, cosmetics is one thing, but a cosmetic procedure is completely different? And in fact, despite all our desire, we are not able to cure our own aching tooth. The opinions of professionals are a serious argument. And in order to find out which of them is closest to the truth, we will consider all the pros and cons of such a simple and at the same time very complex procedure - facial cleansing.

NOT WITH A SPOON, BUT WITH A FINGER...

The main purpose of facial cleansing is to rid the skin of so-called “blackheads” and all types of acne, the causes of which can be very different. From banal pollution to disruption of the activity of some endocrine glands. It is logical that “blackheads” also need to be removed, if only because they give the skin an unattractive and neglected appearance. But again, it depends on how to remove... Today, most salons practice mainly mechanical and manual types of cleaning. Which is generally quite understandable - fast, cheap, but... angry. Read - it's painful and risky. Manual cleaning is a rather painstaking and long process, but every step is important. The cleansed facial skin is pre-steamed - in the language of professionals, this procedure is called “vaporization” - and then squeezed out one by one with fingers wrapped in sterile napkins. The metal loop looks somewhat intimidating, but it perfectly helps to cope with deeply seated sebaceous plugs and significantly speeds up the process.

"PLUS". Removing blackheads. "MINUSES". It hurts, and sometimes it’s even very painful, literally to the point of tears. Cosmetologists associate the appearance of tears with the impact on particularly sensitive centers located on the nose. By the way, similar phenomena occur during eyebrow plucking. But the main point lies not in the result, but in the consequences. Prepare in advance for the fact that for at least a day your face will not have a “marketable appearance” at all. A red and swollen nose, spots and inflammation, small wounds - only a moisturizing mask or a softening tonic without alcohol can help. Skin that is too sensitive - and it may also be oily - will burn, ache and itch. But that's not all. Unfortunately, there is a risk of carrying all kinds of bacteria or, God forbid, infections on your renewed face, since during steaming the skin is completely defenseless. The infection can be introduced directly during acne removal. So make sure that the cosmetologist has not forgotten to wipe the skin with a special disinfectant lotion, and at the end of the procedure, make a tightening and soothing mask. Unfortunately, the possible troubles do not end there. It is possible that the consequences of manual cleaning may appear much later, when you go to the mirror and suddenly discover small but noticeable holes or, even worse, scars on your smooth face. This is also the result of dishonest work by a specialist, which will be much more difficult to eliminate than to avoid. It is necessary to say a few words about vaporization, that is, about steaming. Have you forgotten that steam baths are strictly prohibited for those who have dilated blood vessels on their faces?

"VACUUM CLEANER"

Of course, compared to manual cleaning, vacuum cleaning may seem like a light massage to you, although it is carried out similarly to manual cleaning, which means the consequences may be the same. The only difference is that the cosmetologist does not work with his fingers, but uses a special tube, inside of which an area of low pressure is created, which somewhat reduces the risk of infection and causes less trauma to the pores. Thanks to this technology, sebaceous plugs are literally sucked out of the pores. However, many experts believe that vacuum cleaning does not always completely clear the pores of acne. On the other hand, with the help of such a tube it is quite easy to remove sebaceous plugs in places inaccessible to manual cleaning, which is why many cosmetologists successfully combine the vacuum method with the manual one. Only vacuum is used only in cases of slight contamination of the pores and with a limited number of materials. By the way, it copes with “black dots” remarkably and completely painlessly.

ABOUT "SOUR FRUITS"

Chemical facial cleansing using AHA (fruit acids) is a relatively new technique. No, of course, you won’t be smeared with fragrant strawberries, but with a mask with a high content of glycolic acid, that’s for sure. The mask will help open the pores and thus replace a steam bath. Then a composition with a higher acid content is applied to the face,

which warms the skin, and also softens and even partially dissolves fatty cores. The procedure is completed by a soothing mask with a pore-tightening effect. "PROS". This cleaning method is officially recognized as the most non-traumatic. The recovery period in this case is also reduced to a minimum. And since fruit acids stimulate active cell renewal, the skin looks very fresh after such cleansing. "MINUSES". It is almost impossible to remove everything using fruit acids. So don’t be surprised if most of the kovs remain in their “rightful” places, although they become less noticeable. Please also remember that very sensitive skin may experience irritation. But in general, the procedure is quite favorable and, most importantly, practically safe. If the concept of “acne” is unfamiliar to you, but you think about it once a month, this method was invented especially for you. The rest will have to endure spoons and vacuums.

IONIC ROOKIE

Another practically unknown method in our country is disincrustation, or ionization of the skin using a mask or lotion, depending on the condition of the skin. A special preparation that is applied to acne-affected areas contains anti-inflammatory, wound-healing and other components, the effect of which is enhanced by galvanic current. In this case, the contents of the pores are liquefied and drawn out. "PLUS". Non-traumatic and painless. However, in order to achieve a good result, the procedure must be repeated more than once or twice. And this pleasure is not cheap. "MINUS". High price for the service. However, the conclusion is already clear - the less your skin suffers, the thinner your wallet will become. Therefore, when choosing the type of cleaning, it is sometimes useful to focus on the price list.

CLEAN, HOME-MADE...

Is it possible to get rid of acne at home? The answer is difficult, but possible. And you are deeply mistaken if you think that cleaning the house is not cleaning at all. Cleaning is only even more risky due to the lack of proper experience - of course, if you are not a practicing cosmetologist. Therefore, it should be approached with the utmost caution. Under no circumstances should you succumb to the temptation to get rid of a completely harmless ka in one fell swoop using the “handicraft” method of squeezing out. If you have taken up the procedure, follow all its points.

  1. Stock up on the necessary tools. In particular, soap, a linen napkin, a terry towel, a decoction of medicinal herbs (mint, chamomile, sage, plantain).
  2. Pour hot but not boiling water or herbal decoction into a deep bowl. Be careful not to get burned by the steam!
  3. Cover your head with a terry cloth or towel so that your face is also covered. Lower your face over the bowl and relax.
  4. After 15 minutes, blot your steamed face with a paper or linen napkin.
  5. Sit in front of the mirror and start cleaning your skin. All actions must be carried out in absolute cleanliness, otherwise infection or suppuration may occur. This means your hands should be sterilely clean and your nails short.
  6. Place clean, pre-boiled gauze on your index finger and squeeze and squeeze on both sides (with the fingers of your left and right hands). If the “landing force” does not give up the first time, leave it alone.

To make cleaning more effective, first wipe the skin with lotion, alcohol or vodka, slightly diluted with water. The concentration of the solution depends entirely on the skin type. So, for oily skin, substances containing alcohol do not need to be diluted with water, while for dry or normal skin this should definitely be done. Try lathering areas particularly affected by acne with soap foam first. To make them come out as easily as possible, before you start removing them, try wiping them with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol. This will dry out the skin a little, but will protect against infections. If they are well softened by a bath, compress or rubbing, then squeezing them out is easy and simple. You can use a mixture of 3% hydrogen peroxide, moisten a piece of cotton wool with it, and then wipe the area of skin affected by acne. White subcutaneous dots can be pierced with the end of a needle, after heating it over a fire or wiping it with alcohol or cologne. Brushing should not be done several times a week, before or during menstruation. After the procedure, wipe your face with a neutral toner without alcohol and try to avoid cream. As a last resort, use a light, oil-free moisturizing gel. It is better not to go outside on this day, since the pores of the skin are now open to any infection that even ordinary dust can cause. It is better not to squeeze out isolated ki, but to treat them with the help of special patches. These small round stickers are impregnated with a therapeutic agent, thanks to which they intensively act deep into the sebaceous gland. The patch is applied overnight, directly to the problem area. As a rule, the result is noticeable after the first time.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN?

There is no clear answer to this question and there cannot be one. So, for purulent skin diseases, cleaning is not a whim, but a necessity. In this case, it is necessary to constantly observe a specialist who determines the number and regularity of procedures and monitors the condition of the skin. In general, in any case, even if the skin is healthy and clean, consulting a doctor will not hurt - he will determine the minimum procedures your skin needs and recommend different options. Sometimes cleaning is truly necessary - even though there may be risks.

However, do not forget that there are a number of skin diseases for which it is simply contraindicated, for example, increased dryness, as well as allergic reactions. Advice from a cosmetologist from the nearest beauty salon will also not be superfluous, but remember that the cosmetologist is primarily interested in frequent visits to the cosmetology office, and it is quite possible that not all of the expensive procedures offered to you are not so necessary. The most correct thing would be to consult a dermatologist, who will objectively assess the condition of your skin and decide whether you really need cleaning or whether the problem does not exist at all. First of all, you need to be guided by your own feelings, then by the doctor’s advice, and leave the cosmetologist’s opinion “for later.” The advice of friends who have tried any procedure on themselves, of course, should be taken into account, but nothing more. Even if ten people rated this or that method positively, it is not necessarily right for you.

BUT NOW, WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN AWARE OF ALL ASPECTS OF CLEANING, IT’S TIME TO SUM UP THE GENERAL RESULTS.

"FOR" CLEANING

Blackheads are potential sources of inflammation and need to be removed regularly. Otherwise, the process will begin to spread throughout the skin, which can lead to general infection. After the procedure, the skin becomes fresher, smoother, and the pores begin to “breathe.” Finally, “black dots” are simply unaesthetic. No amount of makeup, even the most skillful one, can hide dirty skin and clogged pores. Of course, cleaning should not happen every day, and using dirty hands is strictly prohibited.

CONS OF CLEANING

During this procedure, a fairly large surface of the skin is treated, causing the face to become red and swollen for a couple of days. The effect of cleaning lasts for about a week, so the results of this procedure can only be enjoyed for two or three days. In addition, inept, or rather “crazy” hands can provoke the formation of small round scars, similar to enlarged pores. Due to steaming, the skin dehydrates and becomes more fragile, and the effect only lasts for a couple of minutes. So it turns out that the cosmetologist cleanses dehydrated skin with closed pores and impaired blood circulation. If injury occurs during cleansing, the function of the sebaceous glands may be disrupted over time, and they will “work” with a vengeance. You risk falling into a real “vicious circle” of constant purges. As you can see, the inequality between the pros and cons is obvious... However, you must draw your own conclusions in the company of a dermatologist. Only then will they be correct and the decision correct. We thank cosmetologist Maria Andreevna Pronina for her help

If you strive to have well-groomed and beautiful skin on your face, the first thing you really need to do is cleanse your face. Of course, using all kinds of scrubs improves the appearance and general condition of the face, but this method will not help with deep cleansing. A cosmetologist will be able to choose the right method that is right for you. In the article we will talk about the types of cleaning, all the arguments for and against this or that method.

According to most cosmetologists, well-chosen facial cleansing will allow you to get rid of unpleasant blackheads, acne, acne scars, comedones, age spots and other imperfections for a long time. As we have already said, a specialist must select the method, and an ordinary nurse can carry out the procedure itself.

Everyone is in favor of cleaning

Just plan. It all depends on your age, as well as the type and general condition of your skin. So, for example, if you are over 50 years old, it is enough to clean it once a quarter, this is quite enough. If you are under 25 years old, then cleaning is necessary once a month; from 35 to 40 years old, you can increase the interval to one and a half months. The interval increases with age only because cell renewal occurs much less frequently over the years, hence the frequency of cleaning. For women with dry skin, it is recommended to visit a specialist at least once a month; for those with oily skin, it is enough to visit a specialist once every 2 months.

No pain or injury. Of course, if we are not talking about mechanical cleaning, but if you have normal skin, you can get an even tone by using vacuum or so-called ultrasonic peeling. The whole procedure will take no more than 30 minutes. By the way, if you have a tendency to develop acne, then such methods will be an excellent prevention. It is important that at the time of the procedure there are no open foci of disease. Another method characterized by absolute painlessness is disincrustation. Special substances are introduced into the skin using a galvanic current, which, reacting with the sebum substance, bring what is contained in the pores to the surface. After such a procedure, the face is wiped with a soft tonic.

Low cost. On average, any of the procedures will cost approximately 1000-3000 rubles. The level of qualification of the dermatologist you contact, the popularity of the salon, as well as its technical equipment are important. You may be offered a chemical peel, but most cosmetologists are inclined to believe that this method is more suitable for those who have age spots, small scars or wrinkles. That is, in this case, all sorts of defects are eliminated rather than facial cleansing.

If we talk about certain advantages of specific procedures, then, for example, mechanical or manual cleansing, which is a classic method, is recommended for owners of oily and oily skin; if there is no acne, this procedure can also be used alone. In addition, it perfectly destroys already hypertrophied marks due to acne and removes small pustules and comedones. Hardware cleaning will help you quickly get rid of large enlarged pores and so-called “blackheads”. It is painless, is an excellent option for normal skin, and does not have any recovery period. The already mentioned disincrustation, in which, as a rule, chemical compositions that are safe for the skin are used, is also painless, has no rehabilitation interval and is characterized by gentle and gentle cleansing.

Everyone is against cleaning

Will not be effective. If we talk about fairly mild ultrasonic cleaning, then for oily skin it is not able to get rid of all impurities. Removing comedones that are deep inside is almost impossible. The same can be said about already outdated inflammations, which often worsen the appearance of your skin. Therefore, with really serious cleaning, which fights all defects, you will need to be patient a little, since other methods are painful. It is worth noting that if you have or are prone to rosacea, vacuum or ultrasonic cleaning is contraindicated.

Long rehabilitation period. Mechanical (manual) cleansing is characterized by a long period of rehabilitation; carrying out such procedures, it is unrealistic to maintain the density and integrity of the epidermis. Initially, redness appears, after which a thin film, a crust, forms on this place, which in no case should be torn off in order to avoid the appearance of scars, even if not too deep. Most often, the skin recovers after 7-10 days, but this happens after 4-5 days. After the procedure, it is prohibited to use any decorative cosmetics (for 12 hours); coloring eyelashes, eyebrows or hair is contraindicated. Any thermal procedures, including visiting a sauna or steam bath, going to a solarium, are also prohibited, since most often this entails the appearance of age spots. In addition to all of the above, after the procedure you must use creams containing aloe vera or any other moisturizing creams.

There are contraindications. Regardless of what type of cleansing you decide to use, if you have epilepsy or eczema, psoriasis or herpes, all kinds of skin diseases, open wounds or abrasions, if you suffer from furunculosis or are pregnant, any cleansing will naturally be prohibited. By the way, read about how to treat psoriasis on a specialized website. If you want to resort to mechanical cleaning, then this cannot be done if you have hypertension, dry skin, or rosacea. Increased skin sensitivity can also have a negative impact when cleaning with ultrasound. A disease such as demodicosis generally excludes all possible types of cleansing, since even a relatively mild wash can cause very severe redness of the skin.

Drawing conclusions

  1. Most types of cleaning are painful (although you can endure it for the sake of beauty).
  2. In order for certain positive results to be visible, it often takes from 5 to 10 sessions, and all this costs money.
  3. Disincrustation and hardware cleaning are not suitable for removing comedones.
  4. Only manual cleaning, which is characterized by increased pain, can remove comedones that are deeply embedded inside.
  5. Hardware methods are only possible for normal skin to improve the general condition and turgor.
  6. You need to undergo a consultation, without it you risk getting the opposite effect.

Beautiful and healthy skin is an indispensable attribute. And daily cleansing of the skin plays an important role. And an important role is assigned to daily cleansing. This procedure is not the least important when searching for an answer to the question of how to look younger than your age. So is it necessary to do facial cleansing? There are various means for this. But they are not able to cope one hundred percent with the negative impacts of various factors. And here you cannot do without cleansing, that is, deep cleansing, removing dead skin cells, sebum and comedones.

Nutrients cannot penetrate deep into the skin through dead cells. The result is the skin losing its natural color, a grayish tint and dullness. Excess sebum has the ability to attract dirt and dust. Cleaning is important for any type, but the procedure is especially effective for oily or problematic skin. There are many variations of this procedure. Each type has its pros and cons.

Mechanical cleaning

First, the skin is steamed with special gels to open the pores and enhance the secretion of the sebaceous glands. After this, the cosmetologist removes impurities from the skin. Then treatment is carried out, the purpose of which is to prevent inflammatory processes. A mask that tightens the pores is applied to the skin. At the end of the procedure, a soothing cream should be applied.

  • Pros: The procedure is the most common, and the cleaning is the most thorough. During it, deep treatment of the skin is carried out, the result is visible immediately, all sensations are controlled, the instruments are sterile.
  • “Cons”: Mechanical cleansing is recognized as the most harsh and traumatic for the skin, and is very painful. During the day, swelling and inflammation may remain on the face. Mechanical cleaning cannot be carried out in the presence of ulcers and inflammation.

Wanting to save money, some women, especially young girls, try to remove acne at home on their own. This is absolutely not to be desired: the required sterility is impossible, and the result may well be a significant deterioration in appearance.

It uses a device that applies ultrasonic waves to the skin. They perfectly exfoliate old layers, remove impurities and comedones. Particularly effective for oily and aging skin.

  • “Pros”: the cleaning is softer, the skin is not injured. Only dead cells are removed, leaving young and healthy ones. During cleaning, the tissues are regenerated, the skin seems to glow from the inside, looks renewed and rested. Ultrasonic waves help smooth out fine wrinkles by massaging the skin. No pre-steaming is necessary. There will be no inflammation or redness after cleaning. The procedure is completely painless.
  • “Cons”: inflammatory and infectious processes in acute stages, facelifts and pregnancy exclude the procedure. Cleaning is superficial, and it is better to carry it out as a preventive measure or in combination with other types.

Vacuum cleaning

To carry out this type of cleaning, a pneumatic device is required. The procedure is especially effective for oily, aging and normal skin types. With such skin, the question of whether to cleanse the face is resolved positively. Lymphatic drainage massage is performed using special attachments. Vacuum cleansing removes acne from the skin, exfoliates dead cells and cleanses the skin.

  • “Pros”: does not cause inflammation on the face. As a result of the procedure, the complexion of the skin is evened out and it acquires a healthy appearance.
  • Cons: This cleansing is stressful for the skin. The procedure is contraindicated for people with dry skin and problems with blood vessels. The effect appears only after a day, and at least during the day a pinkish tint is still present on the skin. For this reason, vacuum cleaning is not recommended before important activities.

Galvanic cleaning

Under the influence of electric current and disinfectants, special chemical solutions, sebum is dissolved and removed, pores are unclogged, and the face is cleansed of impurities.

  • Pros: the procedure is painless, the facial contour is tightened, sebum secretion is normalized, blood vessels are strengthened and fine wrinkles are smoothed out. A completely skin-safe type of cleansing.
  • “Cons”: strictly contraindicated for hypersensitivity and dry skin.

Masks and peelings with organic acids are used for this. There are enzymatic and drug cleanings. For the latter, the cosmetologist uses products with acids, and for enzymatic - with enzymes, papain and bromelain. There is no physical effect on the skin: the cosmetologist first applies a cleansing composition to the face, then a more “caustic” mixture. As a result, the skin warms up, becomes softer, and fat cores are partially dissolved. At the end of the procedure, a soft soothing mask is applied.

  • “Pros”: cleansing is effective for removing acne, can be carried out for skin inflammation, but subject to the rules.
  • “Cons”: traumatic for the skin.

The frequency of cleansing depends on the health of the skin. For heavily soiled and oily skin, the procedure is recommended at least once every ten days; for normal skin, once or twice a month is sufficient.

Depending on the sensitivity of the skin, it is worth choosing the type of cleansing. The more delicate the skin, the more careful treatment it requires. The most effective cleaning is complex: a combination of chemical with vacuum, mechanical or ultrasonic.

Any cleansing should combine makeup removal, pore enlargement, softening of comedones, cleansing itself, massage with the application of a soothing mask and cream. Only with such a package of services will the question not arise once again whether it is necessary to do facial cleansing at all.

Recently I have been a fan of mechanical facial cleansing. The procedure is unpleasant, but the effect is worth it. I’ll say right away not to judge too much that I go to the Sovdepov cosmetology clinic with fat cosmetologist aunts who always communicate “for life”, criticize luxury, pharmacy cosmetics and praise “Clean Line” (don’t get me wrong, I have a normal attitude towards “CHL”) as a panacea from skin problems. My question is this: is it worth using a specific type of facial cleansing, isn’t it better to cleanse with fruit acids or something else? If you can recommend the best option, I would be grateful! If anyone is interested in this kind of cleaning, please write reviews and possible consequences. I’ve heard a lot of negative reviews on this matter, that such facial cleansing is “a thing of the past” and there are many new, more skin-friendly methods of facial cleansing! In order to understand what exactly my procedure is, I will describe it.

Yes, by the way, the skin is no longer very problematic, that is, problematic, but not neglected, there are some acne, the pores are enlarged, and there is an oily sheen in the t-zone.

Description of the procedure: First, I steam my face with chamomile—their steamer, I must admit, is cool, albeit an old one. It feels like all your pores have opened up. Then I lie down on the couch and the cosmetologist wipes my face with alcohol or something similar (containing alcohol), then begins to press, or rather, punctures the pimples with a special spoon (cosmetic) and squeezes them out with his hands. Brr, the most terrible procedure. It hurts especially in the lower part of the face, and, in general, almost everywhere except the nose and chin. I cry sometimes. Then he wipes off everything that was squeezed out with lotion. Then he does darsanval. Then he does a massage according to the Jacquet method, which is pleasant, first adding some of their “local” medical powder (which they do, it seems, to order). Then a face mask made from badyagi, and something else is mixed in, it seemed to me eucalyptus, but I don’t know for sure. Badyaga is 100 percent in it, the rest of the composition is unknown. They don’t give away “secrets”; they answer in a somewhat veiled manner. Then we wash off this “beauty”, then liquid nitrogen. And at the end she powders it again with this medical powder and voila, the “beauty” with a red face is ready. Issue price: 600 rubles. If necessary, conducts it again, next time. a day or every other day, but fewer procedures, less pressure, more pressure, so to speak. It's already cheaper. And then it’s advisable to look like an azotik, fortunately, it costs 100 rubles.

Result: The process of “peeling” begins, the skin is renewed, pimples, even internal ones, go away, or rather, she squeezed them out already during the cleansing. But the black dots remain, but they are parallel to me. But the face is clean, perfect, like new. After 3-4 months, it becomes dirty again, the pores become clogged and you have to start over. If you do it regularly, as this woman cosmetologist says, there will be no acne at all. The pores, of course, will not disappear, but they will tighten up.

Like this! Your tips and recommendations on this matter! Criticism is welcome. I will accept any thoughts on this matter: It is possible/not possible, Not to go there/to go, the cosmetologist does everything right/wrong (justify). Briefly speaking! I'm waiting, I really need it. I don’t want the “3-month pleasure” of clear skin to later lead to worse complications, such as scars, age spots and all sorts of other crap.

Whoever read to the end - Well done!!!
