Secrets of trimmed pedicure without leaving home. Pedicure for ingrown toenails and effective treatment methods

For a well-groomed appearance, your feet need constant care. The concept of professional pedicure combines several different procedures. These are classic, hardware, European and other types of foot treatment. Regular visits to an experienced specialist will simultaneously maintain the health of your feet and their aesthetic appearance.

For example, a hardware pedicure is the most gentle and safe type that can be used even for sensitive skin on the feet. Purchasing a special portable device will allow you to carry out this procedure at home. And having a set of tools and products for trimmed pedicure, you can successfully take care of your feet in the classic way.

Professional pedicure - products and tools

The necessary attributes for the procedure are instruments and cosmetics.

It is included in the kit

The quality of the instruments used during pedicure largely determines how well and safely the procedure will be performed. They must ensure that there is no damage to the nail plate and skin.

The standard set of tools consists of:

  • Pedicure nippers, which are used to shorten nails and remove hangnails and corners. They must have a part such as a folding spring to return to the initial position, and be strong enough.
  • Scissors of different sizes and shapes. For pedicure, options with both straight ends and rounded ends are used. They are used to trim nails.
  • Files with working surfaces of different grain sizes (from 60 to 320 grit). Rough processing is carried out on the side with coarse-grained coating. Polishing of nail plates is carried out with a fine-grained abrasive.
  • Tweezers for carrying out pruning procedures in hard-to-reach places. This tool is durable and safer to use than scissors.
  • A set of pushers - tools with which the cuticle is separated. They are double-sided (spatula and hatchet), with a curette.
  • Pedicure pumice, for the manufacture of which manufacturers use metal or glass. Micro knives or teeth are applied to its surface, which have a certain angle of inclination, size, and sharpness. This grater has an ideal surface with a fairly long service life. Pumice is used to treat any area of the foot.

Good quality tools will help restore your feet to a state of lightness and health. They are selected individually. They must be sterilized before use. They are boiled for thirty minutes.

At home, if you only work with your legs, you can use medical alcohol to treat the tool. This procedure should be carried out regularly - immediately after and immediately before the pedicure.

Creams and other cosmetics

To perform a pedicure procedure you need:

  • softening masks;
  • creams against corns;
  • cuticle softening oil;
  • nail coatings with a strengthening and whitening effect;
  • special medications, for example, antifungal ointments.

An important product for pedicure is a moisturizing or nourishing cream.

Products for removing rough heels

To remove rough skin on the heels, many people use a modern, effective product in the form of pedicure socks. The Japanese company SOSU is especially popular. They can be used by both men and women due to their universal size.

They look like plastic socks with an odorous liquid inside. Lactic acid is the main component of the product. It moisturizes and regenerates the skin of the feet. The composition is supplemented with extracts of medicinal plants that enhance the effect of the main component.

You can’t do without a special bath to soften the skin of your feet. Professionals often use the hydromassage option. Their functionality can be very different.

Thanks to these functions, you can remove dead epidermal cells and dry calluses without pain.

The bathtubs are usually equipped with massage attachments and a lid to prevent water from splashing onto the floor, they maintain a constant water temperature, and their legs have an anti-slip coating.

Equipment for professional pedicure

Pedicure involves the use of devices:

  • pedicure apparatus;
  • professional machine with blade;

Each of them performs its own functions.

Pedicure machine

This is a device in the form of an electric machine, equipped with various types of cutters. The device has different rotation speeds and reverse. A good machine should have a built-in vacuum cleaner - during the procedure it collects the smallest particles of skin and nails.

The pedicure machine treats the feet by grinding, which is especially important for areas with thin skin (cuticles, between the toes, side ridges of the nail plates). Thin nozzles are used here. Feet and heels are cleaned with larger diameter nozzles that easily remove dead skin.

Machine

This device is used to remove rough skin on the feet. This is a convenient and economical way to perform a pedicure at home. It consists of a handle and sharpened special blades, a heel sanding file to remove all irregularities after using the machine.

Important! It is not recommended to use the pedicure machine too often. Otherwise, the effect may be the opposite - injury to the renewed skin will lead to increased coarsening of the feet.

Roller saw

With this small device you can treat only the heels or the entire feet. Irritation and damage to the feet when using it is excluded, since thin layer-by-layer removal of keratinized layers of cells occurs. The efficiency of a roller electric file is much higher compared to conventional pumice. You can buy a cheap School electric file (scholl) in this online store.

How to do a professional pedicure at home?

By following a certain sequence, you can easily perform pedicure treatment at home.

Stages of work

The procedure consists of several stages:

  1. Steaming the skin of the feet when using a bath.
  2. Cleansing of rough skin with peeling, scrub or a special machine.
  3. Work on the cuticle.
  4. Giving the desired shape to nails by cutting, grinding and polishing them.
  5. Foot massage.
  6. Varnishing of nail plates.
  7. Applying a moisturizing or nourishing cream.

All stages are carried out in strict sequence.

Important nuances

  • Do not use hot water in the bath;
  • disinfect all instruments;
  • When drying your feet, you need to soak them with a towel, but not rub them;
  • the effect of pumice is possible with daily use;
  • to avoid infection, the softened cuticle is pushed back, but not cut off;
  • immediately after the procedure, you should not rush to go outside - softened feet may suffer in shoes;
  • Using a pedicure machine at home requires some experience, otherwise there is a high risk of injuring the skin.

Conclusion

Using the right tools and devices, adhering to certain rules and recommendations, a home pedicure will not be inferior in quality to a professional one. And your legs will acquire a healthy and attractive appearance.

It all probably started with the fact that we realized: many women living in the city center and even more women working in the city center would find it convenient to get pedicures and manicures near their place of work or residence, and at the same time it is extremely important for them to be confident that manicure and pedicure instruments are properly cleaned, reusable attachments and instruments are properly disinfected and sterilized, and disposable instruments and attachments are thrown away immediately after use.

Our doctors paid special attention to the issue, in particular our injector Sergei Gennadievich Prikhnenko, who, in principle, will not cross the threshold of a manicure room without being sure that this procedure is absolutely safe for him.

But, of course, the basis, first of all, is that we have just such nail service masters - scrupulous, carefully concerned about safety, strictly following the rules and very, very careful, striving to create the maximum level of security for the client - and how can we achieve the required level without this? trust between specialist and client, would you agree?

The questions are answered by Natalya Vakulova and Elena Tsurkanova, masters of the nail service studio at the De Trois Rennes Beauty and Health Center.

- Where does it all begin?

Natalya Vakulova:

After each client and before each subsequent client, chairs, tables, and any non-porous surfaces are wiped down for the purpose of cleaning and disinfection - they are treated with a drug called Bacillol.

Bacillol is used not only in nail service studios. It is used to treat surfaces and objects in operating rooms, dental and ophthalmology clinics, and even at blood transfusion stations - due to the fact that it has bactericidal, fungicidal and antiviral properties.
sleepy activity. We use it to disinfect an armchair, a chair, a table, the surface of instruments and equipment, and lamps - Bacillol works even in the most inaccessible places within thirty seconds after irrigation.

After you sit in the chair for a hardware pedicure, your feet are treated using attachments - both disposable and reusable.

This is what disposable caps for hardware pedicure look like - here they are in the photo: green, brown, they are used to treat the foot. The base on which they are put on is reusable, it is processed along with all other tools.

There are also reusable attachments - they can be processed. These are ceramic
nozzles, iron, steel, with diamond chips - they are used to treat the foot, for rough skin, for grinding the skin, for treating the nail fold.

- How to determine whether a disposable or reusable instrument should be used in this particular case?

Natalya Vakulova:

This is determined by the specialist depending on the condition of the feet, but, as a rule, both are used to treat the foot during the procedure.

All you see below are reusable attachments for hardware pedicure.

But we must definitely remember: from pedicure instruments, caps for treating the foot and blades for rough skin are certainly disposable, thrown away and cannot be processed.

These are disposable attachments for hardware pedicure:

After use, disposable attachments and blades are discarded, and reusable ones are immediately immersed in a solution of a powerful disinfectant and sterilant called Deconex (Bohrer Chemie AG, Switzerland).

Drilling and grinding instruments are tools for hardware pedicure - we disinfect with Deconex Dental BB (Bohrer Chemie AG, Switzerland) - a powerful antiviral, fungicidal and bactericidal agent for disinfection and pre-sterilization cleaning. This product can be used to sterilize not only nail studio instruments, but also, for example, dental instruments. It is also ideally suited for all rotary tools, such as our burs and cutters.

After disinfection and pre-sterilization cleaning, instruments are washed with running water.

Another disinfectant and sterilizing agent Deconex is Deconex 50 FF (Bohrer Chemie AG, Switzerland), a product with powerful bactericidal, antiviral and fungicidal properties. We use it for pre-sterilization treatment and disinfection of surfaces and medical products. It is with the help of deconex that surgical and dental instruments are disinfected.

Important note: we immerse products in Deconex solution immediately after use, avoiding drying. The disinfection holding stage is also a soaking stage for the pre-sterilization cleaning process. After disinfection, the instruments are washed with water in two containers for about five minutes each, and then washed with running water.

After this, the tools are ready to be sealed in disposable craft bags and sent to a dry-heat oven for three hours.

Here in the photo you can clearly see how the color of a special sticker on a craft bag that has undergone sterilization treatment in a dry-heat oven changes after processing in a dry-heat oven.

- Elena, what is disposable during the manicure procedure?

Elena Tsurkanova:

Wooden sticks, cotton pads, foil, disposable towels. I simply break the sticks right in front of the client. I take new sticks out of the bag in front of the client.

Reusable manicure tools also end up in special craft bags and are sent to a dry-heat oven.

After processing, the instruments are stored either directly in craft bags in which they were processed in a dry-heat oven, or in a UV oven. It is important to remember: the UV cabinet is not a means of sterilization or cleaning; it can only contain instruments that have already passed all the necessary types of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. And even then for a short time; If they are not needed during this time, the instruments are cleaned and sterilized again. Otherwise it is unacceptable.

- How are things going with the nail files?

Elena Tsurkanova:

We put the files in envelopes - this is what I suggest to each client - to put his individual file in an envelope. We strive to ensure that the client has an individual nail file.

The rest of the files undergo exactly the same disinfection and cleaning, with this everything is very strict. Disinfection, washing, drying, storage in a UV cabinet.

At the beginning of the working day, the master should have several sets of tools available. After use and processing, they are all stored in a cabinet. It is clear that a salon, center, clinic must have a sufficient number of sets of tools for this, so that in the middle of the working day the master is not left without tools.

All files, polishers, and grinders are disinfected in the same way as cutting tools. After disinfection, they are stored in an ultraviolet cabinet. If they have not been used during storage in the UV cabinet, they are disinfected and sterilized again.

But as a rule, with a dense flow of clients, I don’t even have time to put the tools in the UV cabinet: I tear open the craft bag that just came out of the dry-heat cabinet and start doing a manicure.

In the question of which attachments should be disposable and which should be reusable for a hardware pedicure, complete chaos also reigns. Let's make it clear:

This is a white ceramic stone attachment, reusable, processed, designed for processing the free edge of the nail.

A metal reusable nozzle for grinding cuticles - it is not cut off now, but is grinded off during a hardware pedicure.

This is a metal reusable cutter for processing the leather of side rollers.

This green attachment is a disposable attachment for treating the skin of the foot.

This iron attachment is also for treating the skin of the foot.

This pink attachment is a ceramic grinding stone for cutting cuticles.

- Why is it so important to strictly follow all the rules of disinfection and sterilization?

Nail files

You can read more about manicure files in the article:

Nail and cuticle clippers

Like nail files, different sizes of clippers are used for different purposes.

Small: Best for those with small toes or weak nails. If you have small hands, you will probably find these types easier to use than larger tweezers.

Medium: good for working on fingernails and toenails, for weak and normal nails. These are the standard tweezers that are sold in most stores.

Large: Ideal for thick, strong nails, big toes for example. These tweezers should not be used to trim weak nails as they may split them.

Cuticle clippers are technically difficult to use, especially on yourself. Cutting cuticles smoothly requires skill and practice, and there is a high risk of cutting yourself. If you have to, do it carefully - perfection comes with practice.

Nail scissors

Nail scissors should only be used to trim the tips and corners of the nail - they are difficult to use for cutting long nails. Make sure to keep the blades sharp and straight, and be careful when sterilizing the scissors, as you would with any other metal tool. If scissors become dull, they can be professionally sharpened.

Instead of cuticle clippers, use specially rounded scissors. They are great for cutting off hangnails - especially if your movements are not very precise or if you are holding the scissors in a non-dominant hand.

Orange wood cuticle sticks

A classic multifunctional nail care tool. Orange tree sticks need to be thrown away after each manicure, so it makes sense to buy them in bulk, cut them in half and store them in an airtight container or zip-lock bag.

Polishing stones and discs

A buffing block or disc is an essential tool in your kit because it helps you get your nails ready for polish before applying polish. The best polishing stones are disposable ones and are inexpensive.

A nail brush is a must-have item if you're doing anything that gets your fingertips dirty.

It is better to use a grater than pumice, as the latter cannot be sterilized.

Pedicure file

There are several types of pedicure files, they have different surfaces and different wear resistance. Although disposable files are inexpensive, you still have to buy a new one for each pedicure - which can ultimately amount to a considerable amount. And given the quality and durability of the metal, it is better to purchase metal tools.

File for ingrown nails

This is a wonderful accessory for those who have problems with excessive dead skin cells around their nails and who need to peel off cuticles that stick to their nails like a bath leaf. This nail file is easy to use; thanks to its specially designed shape, you can easily reach hard-to-reach places.

Curette for a manicure

This tool is similar to an ingrown toenail file, but has a tiny spoon-shaped tip, making it great for those who suffer from ingrown toenail problems and need to pay extra attention to the buildup of dead skin cells that accumulate between the nail bed and the cuticle.

Manicure bath

If such a bath is made of metal, then it can be easily sterilized in a dishwasher set to “hot” mode.

Towels

For wiping away stains, for use as a wrist rest, etc.

Cotton pads and buds

For removing nail polish, using during corrective manicures and for cleaning tools. Use square cotton pads and cotton swabs from which excess cotton has been removed.

Experts most often use:

  • tweezers;
  • wire cutters;
  • nail files of different grain sizes;
  • scissors;
  • pedicure machines;
  • curettes;
  • pumice and graters.

They are taken to reduce the length of the free edge when the nail is thick and hard. For thin plates it is easier to use scissors with straight ends. Large pliers are suitable for the thumb, small ones are convenient for handling all the rest.

The tool's triangular tips and beveled blades make it easy to remove cuticles and hangnails. This structure guarantees a tight fit of the nippers to the finger. A good product should cut the skin, not tear it. This is affected by the quality of sharpening.

The optimal blade length is from 5 to 9 millimeters. When working, take the nippers at a slight angle, try to move smoothly and carefully so as not to tear the cuticle.

For thick plates on the feet, choose files with a coarser grain than for thin nails on the hands. The grain size differs depending on the task at hand:

  1. To shorten nails, you will need a file that is coarser and thinner than for hands - the plates are thicker and denser, and it is especially difficult to approach them. A glass model is perfect.
  2. To polish your nails, you need a buff or grinder.
  3. To add shine to the surface of the plates, buy a polisher.

Double sided curette

Its tip resembles a thin pointed hook. It does not scratch the natural nail, but it easily gets into hard-to-reach areas. To deal with an ingrown toenail, press the hook against the plate and, without applying too much pressure, move along it.

Scissors

Reviews

Numerous reviews of products from Zinger and Stalex indicate their quality and reliability. Mertz is also in high demand among consumers, especially their pedicure tools made of carbon steel. Women claim that each product from this manufacturer is distinguished by the special sharpness of the blades and the hardness of the material.

The main purpose of this tool is to remove dead skin cells that accumulate under the cuticle. It can also be used to treat the edges of a nail prone to ingrown nails, thereby providing a preventative effect.

In general, this is a professional tool, and it is rarely used at home, as it requires some skill. But it is worth noting that learning how to handle it is not at all difficult.

The method of use looks like this: after using the remover, pressing the curette with the sharp part to the nail, you run it along the entire nail, paying special attention to the cuticle. In this case, you must move carefully, as there is a risk of injury.

The curette not only cleans the areas of the nail plate under the cuticle, it can also effectively clean the subungual space. The ways of using the tool are not limited to this; the curette is even used for drawing.

The best curettes should meet the following requirements: the end of the curette should be semicircular and curved to the shape of the nail (as in the photo).

Also, its thickness should be within 1-1.5 mm, and ideally not exceed the size of the nail bed on the little finger.

My curette is a little longer, literally by 1 mm, I can say that this does not affect the ease of use. In this case, the working parts of the curette are almost identical.

I also like to use it in combination with a spatula (L-05 or L-02) to push back the cuticle, as a finishing treatment, so to speak.

Who is it suitable for?– for people with soft and thin cuticles that do not need to be trimmed. The main advantages are that you do not cut anything, which means the risk of infection is reduced.

Its full name is Double-sided small curette LV-05m
