Knitting heels on 4 knitting needles. How to knit the heel of a sock with knitting needles? It's simple

What can warm your feet better than knitted socks made of natural wool or another material of your choice? Make them yourself, it's not that difficult. An irreplaceable thing in the cold season. Give this product to your family for New Year, Christmas or any other holiday to warm those you care about in bad weather. Read the instructions for beginners below; we will take a closer look at the most difficult part - knitting the heel.

To work you need:

  1. choose your own yarn. The thread should be tight, not torn, color to your taste. Choose the thread material (wool, cotton) yourself;
  2. knitting needles (5 pieces), thickness approximately equal to thread;
  3. scissors.

Instructions:

Before starting work, you need to complete a couple of preparatory steps. First, let's calculate the knitting density with which we will knit our socks. One of the simplest ones (stocking) will be used for work; you can use another one. To calculate, we knit a centimeter or a couple of centimeters in length and width, and then we can find out how many loops need to be cast on. Or use two knitting needles, 10–15 stitches each lengthwise, and knit the same number of rows across, and calculate how many centimeters you get. Then, if we found out the number of loops in a centimeter, then we multiply this number by the required length. And if the number is centimeters, then using an easy proportion we also find the loops (the 10–15 taken initially are multiplied by the number of centimeters we need, the resulting number is divided by centimeters when knitting 10–15 loops). The number of resulting loops for our work is a multiple of four, since this is exactly how many knitting needles will be used, and it is advisable to use an even number on each one so as not to get confused when working. If the resulting result does not meet the requirements, then it would be better to add loops so that everything comes together.

Below is a diagram of capturing and knitting a knit stitch.

The diagram below shows the technique of knitting a purl loop:

Let's move on to the sock itself:

Rubber. Top part.

  1. We will distribute the required number of loops onto 4 knitting needles. First, we knit the required amount on 2 loops, then we move the loops onto 4 knitting needles equally each. The knitting depends on the density of the elastic you want to make. To prevent the upper part from stretching, we use the 2*2 technique (knit 2, purl 2). If you want the elastic to be more flexible and stretchable, then you need the 1*1 method (1 knit, 1 purl).
  2. When we finish knitting the first row, we will close the work. Knit the outer loop on the very last remaining knitting needle (fourth). Let's go back to the first knitting needle and knit in the round. The width of the elastic band depends on your desire (a couple of centimeters or ten).
  3. Let's move on to knitting the sock cuff. When doing this, use stockinette stitch. You also choose the length of the cuff yourself.

Toe heel:

This part is subject to the most wear and tear, so more attention should be paid to it.

  1. To knit a heel, you need to take only the first and fourth knitting needles, we will leave the rest free (in general, you can take any two of the four that are nearby, and leave the rest alone). Let's knit the height of our heel. Let's connect the loops located on 1 and 4 knitting needles onto one and start working.

  • When knitting a heel, you can take an extra thread that does not stretch and knit in a double layer. To ensure that the heel comes out tight and does not fray very quickly or wear out, we will use the following knitting technique:
  • On the front part (we remove the first loop (edge loop), knit 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch, knit 1 knit stitch, and so on). We use this method until the end of the row.
  • On the wrong side we knit all the loops (purl).
  • According to this pattern, we knit approximately 5–8 centimeters (this is the height of the heel).
  • Let's give shape and volume to the work done, we're done knitting the heel. We divide the number of loops on the knitting needle by three; if their number is not divided evenly, then we will leave more on the middle knitting needle (we had 55 loops, we left 18 on the side knitting needles, and 19 on the middle knitting needle). Let's start with the first side (any) and the middle part. We will knit the last loop from the second side. Thus, the loops on the side knitting needles will gradually decrease, and the shape will become voluminous.
That is, in the first row we will knit 17 loops, and we will knit 18 and 19 as one (instead of the one knit stitch). Then we knit 15 loops and again make one from 16 and 17.
  • Turn the work over and continue knitting. Doing the same steps (we knit the last loop in the middle from the first from the side).
  • Our heel will gradually form a three-dimensional shape (boxes). We decrease the loops until they end on the side knitting needles.
  • The heel formed and gradually took the shape we needed.
  • In order to move on to making the sole, we will need to add loops. We knit them from the edges (outermost sides) of the side of the resulting product.
  • The heel itself is ready, then to complete the sock you will need to knit the length to the little finger using regular stockinette stitch. After this, decrease 2 loops to the end of the product, fasten the 2 or 4 remaining loops.

The heel is ready! It's not as difficult as it seemed! Good luck with your work!

Very often when knitting we see the term continue to knit “like a heel”. But what about this? How's the heel?
Now I will tell you how to correctly calculate the loops when knitting the heel when knitting socks, how to knit the heel of the toe, and also tell you how to knit the toe.

Knitting the heel of the sock with knitting needles:

When knitting a sock, the heel is knitted on half the stitches of the entire sock; as a rule, the 1st and 4th knitting needles are used to knit the heel, and some kind of openwork pattern can be knitted on the 2nd and 3rd.

In order to knit the heel, the loops on these knitting needles should be divided by 3.
Example sock circumference 48 stitches, heel knit halfway = 24.
To knit a heel 24/3 = three parts of 8 loops. If the quantity is not divided equally, then the side parts are made identical, and all other loops remain in the middle part.

The heel is knitted using stockinette stitch, and for strength, you can add an additional thread.

First you need to tie the heel height.

For ease of knitting, knit all stitches from the 3rd and 4th needles onto one needle, and knit in stockinette stitch at heel height. The heel height can be calculated as follows: the number of edge loops should be equal to the number of loops in the middle of the heel, in our example 8, and since 1 edge loop = two knitted rows, in our example, for the heel height, 16 rows should be knitted with stockinette stitch.

After this, we proceed to knitting the heel itself:
We knit the first part of the loops (8), * we knit the middle part (8), and we knit the last eighth loop of the middle part together with the knit stitch crossed with the first loop of the third part. Then we turn the work over without knitting the third part to the end, remove the first loop as a purl and knit the middle part (8 loops) with purl loops, and knit the last eighth loop of the middle part together with the first loop of the first part of the purl. We turn the work over without finishing the first part, remove the first loop as a knit stitch and continue knitting as described from *. We continue knitting until only the loops of the middle part remain in work (8 loops). This is how you should do it

To continue knitting, you need to cast on loops along the side edges of the heel - from each edge loop you need to cast on one new loop. Thus, you should cast on 10 loops on each side.

We continue knitting the sock in the round on 4 knitting needles, while there should be more loops on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles than on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles. This is necessary so that the sock does not tighten the leg. Then, when knitting, we decrease these loops in every second row, knitting together the side loops on the foot (2nd and 3rd loops on the fourth knitting needle, 2nd and 3rd from the end on the first knitting needle). Make these decreases until the original number of stitches is reached. In our case 48.

How to knit the toe of a sock with knitting needles:

The toe of the sock, as well as the heel, is knitted only in stockinette stitch to form triangular toe it is necessary to decrease the loops along the edges of the palm as follows:
on the first and third knitting needles we knit the first two loops together with the front ones behind the back walls,
and on the second and fourth knitting needles, knit the last two stitches together behind the front walls.

Such decreases are made in every second circular row, and when half of the original number of loops remains on the knitting needles (in our case, 24), we continue to make such decreases in each row.
When there are 4 loops left on the knitting needle, they are pulled together with a working thread using a needle.

And to receive round toe The decreasing sock should be done like this: on each knitting needle, knit the last two loops together purl until 1 loop remains on each knitting needle, then these 4 loops should be pulled together with a needle.

___________
We've sorted out the socks, now it's time to think about hats. Berets, hats, caps for every taste and color in a large assortment can be found on the website loricci.ru

It’s so nice to wear something you made with your own hands, but it’s doubly nice to create for others. I really love knitting. When I have a free minute, I pick up knitting needles. I learned to knit since childhood. Socks are the first item I knitted. I will share my knowledge with you.

Knitting socks on 5 knitting needles, master class for beginners

The sock consists of five parts:

  1. cuff,
  2. top part,
  3. heel,
  4. main part,
  5. toe

To knit socks we will need 5 knitting needles with a diameter of 2 - 2.5 mm. We take soft threads. We will need approximately two balls of 100 g each. If desired, you can add a thread of a different color.

Having mastered the technique of knitting socks on 5 knitting needles, you can try knitting them with 2 knitting needles, see the master class.

We cast on the knitting needles a number of loops that is a multiple of four, I cast on 64 loops (a multiple of four), and first measured the circumference of the foot with a centimeter.

We divide the cast-on loops into four knitting needles.

We connect the last loop of the fourth knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle (using a hook or knitting needle), passing the remaining thread on the knitting needle.

We tie a knot.

Now we take the fifth knitting needle in our hands and knit the sock cuff in a circle.

I knitted with an elastic pattern: two knit stitches, two purl loops.

I like high elastic in my socks, so my cuff height is 9cm or 30 rows. For beauty, I knitted pink stripes four rows wide.

After the cuff, we knit the upper part of the sock with facial loops, grabbing the upper loop with a knitting needle.

Having knitted 4 cm or 15 rows, we proceed to knitting the heel. Here you can add a simple thread of the same color to the main thread. This is done so that the heel does not rub quickly and is stronger.

We proceed directly to knitting the heel. The width of the heel is equal to the number of loops on two knitting needles. In my case there are 32 loops. We connect the first and fourth knitting needles. We knit 16 rows with knit and purl stitches. This is the heel height.

We remove the first loop at the beginning of the row, and knit the last one with a purl loop. This is necessary to form a beautiful edge.

Now we will knit the lower part of the heel. Divide the number of loops by three. Moreover, there should be the same amount of loops on the sides, and as many as you like in the middle. We distribute the loops on three knitting needles. I have 11 loops on the side knitting needles, and 10 in the middle. We knit with facial loops: the first 11 and middle 9 loops. We knit the tenth stitch with a knit stitch, and then the first loop of the third knitting needle. Now we lower the tenth loop (i.e. we remove the loop from the knitting needle). We will get a chain.

The heel will be rounded. On the side knitting needles the loops will decrease because... We knit only the middle ones - ten loops. Unfold the knitting needles. We remove the first loop. We knit a row with purl loops. We knit the last loop of the second knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle together with a purl loop. Turn the knitting needles over and knit the front row. We remove the first loop. At the end we lower the loop, as we have already done.

We knit this way until the loops on the side knitting needles run out.

We turn the sock, the elastic band is towards us and we knit a row with facial loops. Now we unfold the other side and collect loops from the formed sides of the toe. I had 11 stitches on my side needles, which means I have to cast on the same number of stitches now. We knit the cast-on loops not just with facial loops. We knit them with crossed loops (we take the loop not at the bottom, but at the top) so that holes do not form.

Now we knit the main part of the sock, periodically decreasing the loops if necessary. You can find out by trying on the sock. We make decreases in a row, one loop at a time, alternately on each knitting needle.

We knit the main part of the sock to the middle of the big toe.

Let's move on to knitting the toe. I have 44 stitches left. We will decrease stitches starting from the second needle. We knit the first eleven loops on the first knitting needle without changes. On the second knitting needle, having knitted eight loops, we knit the next two loops together behind the back walls. We knit the last loop of the knitting needle with a knitting loop and the first loop of the third knitting needle too. We knit the next two loops of the third knitting needle with a front loop behind the front walls. We knit with facial loops to the end of the knitting needle. We knit the fourth knitting needle in the same way, we knit the ninth and tenth loops together with the front one behind the back walls and one front loop. In the future, the loops will decrease and you can knit the toe on only two knitting needles. Thus, a chain is formed on the sides of the sock. If we fold the sock in half, it can be clearly seen.

We continue to knit according to this pattern until there are only eight loops left on two knitting needles.

Using a hook, thread the thread through the remaining loops.

We tie a knot and hide it inside the sock.

Our sock is ready. All that remains is to knit the same one on the second leg.

Finished products can be lightly steamed with an iron, the threads and seams will straighten out, and the item will look more beautiful.

There are quite a few ways to knit socks on knitting needles; perhaps each needlewoman has her own method. The technique of knitting socks is mainly distinguished by knitting the heel. We have already looked at the classic method of knitting socks on 5 knitting needles , spiral heel socks, And knitting socks on two knitting needles .

Now let's knit socks with a separate heel. These socks have their own advantage. As you know, the heel is the most vulnerable place of the sock and wears out quickly. Repairing socks with a separately knitted heel is very simple; simply cut it off, unravel it to the initial loops, which are put on knitting needles and a new heel is knitted.

To start knitting socks, cast on the required number of stitches depending on the knitting density and ankle width and distribute them onto 4 knitting needles.

I selected wool blend yarn (100g/180m) sectionally dyed to match the colored knitting pattern and stocking needles No. 3. The density of the knitted fabric is 10x10 cm, 23x33 loops. I cast on 48 stitches and distributed them onto 4 knitting needles of 12 stitches each.

Having tied the cuff, we determine the place of the heel. To do this, take a small piece of thread in a contrasting color and knit stitches with it from two knitting needles.

Then go back and continue knitting the sock over the contrasting thread with the same working thread, switching to stockinette stitch.

Knit the main part of the sock with a pipe in a circle for the length from the beginning of the heel to the middle of the big toe.

The toe is knitted using decreases on the sides. Note that the sides are already defined by the marked contrast thread knitted section under the heel. Decrements are made in each row, knitting 2 knits with a slant to the left, 2 knits, 2 knits. together.

To do this, *approaching the side, knit the third and second last loops from the knitting needle with a slant to the left - remove the first loop, knit the next one, pick up the removed loop with the left knitting needle and throw it on top of the knitted one. Knit the last stitch from the needle and the first stitch from the next needle. Next, decrease by knitting the second and third stitches together. Repeat from * around until there are 8 stitches left on the needles, then cut the yarn. Pull the end of the thread through the remaining loops and fasten it to the wrong side.

Having knitted the main part of the sock, all that remains is to knit the heel. To do this, gather the loops on the knitting needles at the top and bottom of the contrasting thread. Then unravel the contrasting thread so that not a single loop escapes. The number of stitches cast on will be the same as when knitting the main part of the sock.

Attach the thread to any side part and knit the heel in stockinette stitch in the round with a pipe to a height of about two to three centimeters without decreasing. In the first row on the sides, make an addition of broaches one loop at a time so that there are no holes. Next, make decreases in the same way as on the toe on the sides. When there are 8 loops left on the needles, fasten them and hide the tip on the wrong side.

Knitting socks is simple and enjoyable. This is a calming and interesting activity, which, moreover, gives an excellent result - with our capricious weather in autumn and winter, you simply cannot do without warm socks. In the process of working, beginning knitters often have a problem with the fact that they do not know how to knit the heel of a sock with knitting needles. There is nothing complicated about this - this is the case when you need to carefully and meticulously understand the problem and forget about it once and for all.

For those who can already proudly call themselves a professional in this matter, knitting socks takes a couple of evenings - and this is subject to leisurely and measured work for their own pleasure. You too can achieve this – and we will be happy to help you. We offer you detailed instructions, thanks to which you can figure out how to knit the heel of socks and no longer worry about it.

To work you need:

  1. Yarn – 150 g
  2. Knitting needles – 5 pcs.

How to knit the heel of a sock: a detailed description of the process with photos

So, you have already knitted the cuff at the sock - that is, you have cast on the loops, made sure that their number is easily divided into four knitting needles, knitted the length you need with a double or single elastic band (here it is better to try on the sock so that in the end it does not turn out to be too short) and finally got to the heel.

Now we leave the first and second knitting needles, and join the loops from the third and fourth together. This is the future heel - its height will be about 5 cm, it needs to be knitted in stocking stitch, with knit stitches. It should look something like this.

When the knitting length for the heel is sufficient, you need to round it. To do this, we divide the entire fabric that is on the knitting needles into three parts - ideally, the number of loops should be the same, but if not, then it’s not scary - for example, let there be 10 loops on the side knitting needles, and 12 on the middle one. Now the loops need to be decreased. We knit the side row, then the center, and then only the center - we knit the last loop of the middle row together with the first loop of the side row, and starting a new row in the middle, we remove the first loop. Continue until the side knitting needles are empty.

Now along the edge of the heel you need to pick up new loops - the same number as there were before we reduced them.

Now you can continue working with the same circular knitting - we have dealt with the heel.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in knitting the heel of a sock - two or three times you will move your eyes from the instructions to your knitting to make sure that you are doing everything correctly, and then there will be no need for this - the process will go easily and quickly, and soon you may be so addicted to knitting that you will have to actively give socks to all your friends and family. However, this is unlikely to be a problem - socks in Russia are not a luxury, but a necessity.
