Why and how often is facial skin peeling done? We do a full course of peeling: how many sessions are required, their frequency.

The skin of both older women and young girls and middle-aged women needs constant care. Moreover, washing, nourishing and moisturizing with creams and masks alone is clearly not enough - an additional, intermediate measure is necessary, for example, such as facial peeling (exfoliation). The procedure involves cleansing the skin by exfoliating dead cells with special products at home or in a salon. But to understand why this is needed, it’s worth turning to biology.

As you know, human skin is a rather complex organ that performs various physiological and protective functions. That is why it is not a solid (monolithic) tissue, but consists of several layers: epidermis (upper epithelial section, consisting of 5 sublayers), dermis (connective tissue layer) and subcutaneous fatty tissue (hypodermis). Under the influence of time (the biological process of aging) and the influence of a variety of negative external factors (exhaust gases, dust, solar energy), the outer layer of the body and face becomes rough and inevitably dies.

However, the cover has such an amazing ability to continuously regenerate. New cells are initially formed in the lower thickness of the epidermis and then slowly rise to the top, replacing the old (keratinized) ones. Due to this process, human skin is not only renewed, but also rejuvenated. In the event of any violation of the natural order, her condition, on the contrary, worsens, and signs of age-related changes appear more rapidly.

The situation is especially aggravated when young cells do not have enough space to come to the surface, since the mechanism for removing dead particles is too long. As a result, the regeneration of the skin membrane is suspended, and the remaining nutrients contribute to the formation of acne, pimples, pustules and other inflammatory elements.

The moment when cells, after dying (normal or accelerated), clog the pores cannot be called pleasant either. Indeed, because of this, the skin’s ability to absorb oxygen from the atmosphere, absorb useful minerals, vitamins, and become saturated with moisture is sharply reduced, which subsequently leads to withering of the outer skin, loss of its tone, elasticity, loss of clarity of the contour and healthy complexion, and the appearance of wrinkles. The keratinized scales of the dermis, blocking the exit to sebum and thereby contributing to the clogging of pores, also form such a cosmetic defect as black and white dots.

Peeling combats all of these problems. It helps the skin quickly recover, cleanse, and renew itself by exfoliating dead particles to a thickness consisting of “newborn” cells.

Why is peeling necessary?

Now, answering the question “why do you need peeling?”, we can confidently say that peeling is necessary for:

  • eliminating dead particles in order to heal the skin membrane and rejuvenate it (after completion of the session, the production of elastin and collagen is stimulated);
  • normalization of the condition and appearance of the skin (evening out and returning the natural shade, restoring the level of humidity, reducing the appearance of age spots and rosacea, making the face smooth and velvety);
  • activation of metabolic processes;
  • accelerating the mechanism of tissue regeneration;
  • eliminating excess fat on the face;
  • cleaning and narrowing pores, preventing them from becoming clogged (with waste products of bacteria, dirt and actual keratinized cells of the epidermis);
  • prevention of inflammation of various types;
  • better penetration and absorption of oxygen and active nutrients contained in care products (creams, gels, masks).

Where and how should exfoliation be done?

Professional exfoliation is done directly in clinics with a focus on aesthetic medicine or specialized salons. The depth of exfoliation (thickness of the layer removed) in such cases directly depends on the type of peeling used, the individual characteristics of the client’s body and the severity of the problem.

However, today this procedure can be carried out at home, using self-prepared mixtures or purchased products from cosmetic manufacturers.

Let's consider how often you can perform facial peeling, depending on its type and level of depth of exposure.

1. Physical or hardware exfoliation is the use of laser or ultrasound (in a salon or medical clinic) to clean the skin at different levels (the thickness of the grinding is determined by the number of passes of the device in one place). The procedures need to be done 2 times a week for a month, then to achieve the best effect, the sessions can be resumed after 3-4 months.

2. Chemical peeling of the face involves exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin for the purpose of its physiological renewal through specially selected chemical compositions. Specialists in the field of cosmetology determine the number of sessions and the interval between them based on the condition of the skin, but there are still general indicators for a course of treatment:

  • surface grinding (with lactic and fruit acids, peptides, enzymes/enzymes, placenta extract, bodyaga and other components) – 5-10 sessions with breaks of 1.5-2 weeks are enough;
  • medium facial peeling (trichloroacetic acid, retinol) is carried out once a year in a course of 3-4 procedures;
  • deep peeling (phenol) is done no more than once a year, since the drug used is toxic.

3. Mechanical peeling (dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning) is the cleansing of the epidermis using abrasive particles contained in a scrub, gomage, or vacuum. Despite the fact that this method is gentle and safe, cosmetologists recommend the following procedures:

  • for normal and oily skin – 1-2 times a week;
  • for dry and sensitive – no more than 3 times a month.

When is the best time to peel?

Exfoliation, especially if its focus is deep or medium cleansing in the salon, is more appropriate to carry out in cold times, that is, when solar activity is low (ideally: early spring or late autumn). If you ask the question “at what time of day: morning or evening?”, then it is better in the evening (but no later than 2 hours before bedtime) so that the skin of the face has time to rest and recover overnight.

The peeling effect will be even more effective after taking a moderately hot bath, when the skin becomes steamed and its pores open. After the exfoliation session, you need to apply a cosmetic mask, and then use a night cream. This care program is considered correct: beneficial substances penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and are better absorbed by the body.

Flaky, prematurely withered, oily skin, or combination skin, problematic with many blackheads, in addition to quality care, requires special cleansing measures. Facial peeling is considered a popular method. Read below about what it is and what the procedure allows you to achieve.

Facial peeling - what is it?

Facial peeling is a cosmetic procedure aimed at cleaning different layers of the skin of a person’s face, using chemicals or hardware methods, in order to rejuvenate and smooth the skin.

The word “peeling” itself comes from the English word “peeling”, which means peeling or rolling.

One of the most common peelings is considered a cosmetic procedure for deep cleansing the skin using a special cream, gel and similar products to remove dead epidermal cells along with dust particles and other elements that clog pores.

This method is one of the most effective and safe, therefore it is more popular than other types.

In any organism there is a continuous division, formation and death of old cells. Thus, a kind of “molting” occurs not only in animals and birds, but also in humans, and even more often: human skin is completely renewed, gradually being replaced by a new one, in about 27 days, and so on about 1000 times throughout life!

Skin undergoes many changes with age - it loses firmness and elasticity, pigmentation and wrinkles appear.

But over the years skin renewal occurs less and less often, and the stratum corneum accumulates, thickens and becomes rough, leather is made:

  • rough to the touch, unhealthy grayish tint;
  • more sensitive to the sun, cold and other external irritants;
  • pigmented due to increased perception of ultraviolet radiation;
  • unable to get rid of dead cells on its own;
  • In addition, its dead particles clog pores, causing the appearance of blackheads, and sometimes subsequent inflammation, premature wrinkles, and sagging.

Who is recommended for facial peeling and contraindications?

Facial peeling (we found out what it is) is recommended for middle-aged and older women, since the need for artificial cleansing and skin aging are closely interrelated.

Sometimes, with problem skin - for teenagers, in the absence contraindications, such as:

  • pregnancy;
  • high body temperature;
  • various injuries, eczema, psoriasis;
  • neurodermatitis, somatic disorders;
  • inflammatory and malignant skin processes;
  • allergies to the drugs used for the session;
  • bacterial and viral skin infections, pustular lesions, herpes;
  • serious cardiovascular diseases (the procedure activates not only local, but also all regenerative processes in the body, starting the renewal process and thereby accelerating all biochemical reactions in the body, increasing the load on the heart).

In these and similar cases, it is advised to refrain from this activity and use products suitable for your skin type for deep cleansing of the skin: natural lotions and soft organic scrubs.

Facial peeling results

Peeling facial cleansing, which lasts from several minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the type of procedure and the current condition of the skin, allows you to achieve the following results:

Facial peeling (what is it - see above): before and after photos
  • normalization of hydrolipid skin balance;
  • reducing the number of deep wrinkles and eliminating small wrinkles, scars, post-acne;
  • stimulation of the production of collagen - a natural protein that increases the elasticity, firmness and structural relief of the skin, clear outlines, and sculptural appearance of the face;
  • activation of skin metabolic processes, due to which symptoms of fatigue disappear, complexion improves, acquiring a fresh, even color;
  • elimination of other skin imperfections associated with age-related changes.

But It is extremely undesirable to expose young healthy skin to the specific effects of chemical reagents. It does not need additional cleansing, since the restoration processes occur naturally in it.

Facial peeling, which is not exclusively a preventive procedure, is an effect on the deep layers of the skin, which results in microtraumas.

Facial peeling is primarily intended for mature skin

On mature skin, the latter has a beneficial effect - the production of collagen, the “building element” of the skin, increases; in young, delicate skin it can cause dermatoses and prolonged irritation and redness.

The same can be said about the depth of the peeling effect - the older a woman is, the rougher her skin becomes, requiring a deeper penetration of abrasive elements.

The peeling procedure is often confused with exfoliation, considering it synonymous with the former, since it also involves peeling of the dermis and is translated as “flaking off.”

But exfoliants are plant (fruit) or lactic acids that facilitate the removal of dead microparticles on the skin surface - the epidermis, softening the rough layer of skin. Peeling particles, depending on their size, properties and composition, are able to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, right down to the subcutaneous fat base - the hypodermis (acid peeling).

Facial peeling should not be confused with exfoliation

Alpha-hydroxy acids, which are part of gommages - “erasing” products - are typical exfoliants that actively cleanse pores of acne, post-acne marks and impurities, and also have anti-aging properties. Essentially, these are creams of a delicate consistency that are suitable for dry, easily vulnerable skin.

But still Exfoliation should be carried out no more than twice a week, so as not to erase the natural protective barrier of the skin, and she managed to restore it.

Benefits of the procedure

Peeling has its advantages:

  • facial peeling has a similar effect, but more pronounced - the skin remains clean for a longer period, which allows you to resort to this cleansing less often;
  • also, after such a procedure, the effectiveness of nourishing and moisturizing agents increases, which easily penetrate the internal structure of the skin, saturating it with useful substances for a long time;
  • its timely implementation renews the skin, slowing down the aging process, transforms it externally, making it smooth, velvety, tender and radiant from the inside;
  • after it, sebum production decreases, oily sheen is eliminated, combination skin type “evens out” to normal - the dermis functions in a balanced manner, secreting sebum evenly;
  • as a result, less makeup is required to correct facial imperfections, which allows you to look younger and more natural, and less often expose your skin to harmful decorative cosmetics.

Types of peeling by depth of influence

Types of peeling are divided into the following categories:

  • physical(ultrasonic cleaning or laser CO2 vaporization);
  • chemical(alphahydroxy acids of different origin (salicylic, glycolic) and consistency) - allows you to get rid of or smooth out scars, small wrinkles and excessive pigmentation;
  • mechanical(dermabrasion with abrasive microparticles, brushing);
  • biological(for example, “water” peeling with the help of Garra Rufa fish, which eat dead skin; in Thailand, such exotic procedures are very popular: special aquariums are installed in salons, where you can do a simple but perfect pedicure in this way).

Having learned what facial peeling is, it is necessary to find out the differences between the types in terms of the depth of their effect.

Superficial facial peeling

Superficial facial peels affect the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Superficial peeling is the most non-traumatic

This is the least traumatic procedure for the skin.: chemical elements penetrate into the skin no more than 1/100 mm, leaving the deep “living” layers intact. It is sometimes used to prepare the skin for SCP, a medium chemical peel, to achieve better anti-aging effects.

PCP can be done every 1-2 weeks: frequency depends on the type and degree of oily skin. After it, slight redness on the skin is observed, lasting about 1-2 days, after which peeling begins, indicating the exfoliation of old cells, but there is no need to be afraid of this, since it goes away on its own after 3-5 days.

Medium facial peeling

SCP, or medium chemical peel, is performed using 20%-50% trichloroacetic acid.

For a medium chemical peel you will need 20%-50% trichloroacetic acid.

It is also used as a rejuvenating procedure after the harmful effects of solar insolation, which causes early aging and the appearance of age spots on the skin, as well as eliminate the consequences of inflammatory processes and age-related changes.

SCP is performed both on the face and other areas of the body: on the neck, décolleté, back of the hands. This type of peeling is used for patients at least 25 years old.

Before starting the procedure, preliminary preparation is carried out, which takes about 2 weeks.: skin is nourished with moisturizing tonics and creams containing glycolic acid, retinol, ascorbic acid; Superficial peeling is also carried out 1-2 times so that the SCP affects the skin evenly.

To prevent complications caused by infections, it is recommended to take a course of antiviral and antibacterial therapy.

Also, to avoid hypersensitivity to trichloroacetic acid due to allergies, such as runny nose and watery eyes, Immediately before the procedure you need to take an antihistamine.

At the end of the procedure, the skin turns a little red, and then a crust forms, which subsides after about a week; The pinkishness of the skin can last up to a month (+/- 2 weeks). All this time, the skin needs:

  • protect from direct sunlight, use sunscreen (according to Dr. Mavon, 80% of the causes of skin aging are due to sun exposure),
  • moisturize the skin with vitamin masks and cosmetic oils, soothing herbal decoctions that maintain an optimal ph level.

By the way, this does not mean that the procedure cannot be planned for the summer season: in countries such as Israel and Florida, where there is increased solar activity all year round, peeling is carried out at any time.

Deep facial peeling

GHP, or deep chemical peeling is the most highly effective of all types of peeling, treating the entire epidermis, as well as the papillary and reticular parts of the dermis.

As a result, many senile and established facial wrinkles and scars disappear.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Preparation includes the same steps as for medium peeling.

There are the following types of deep peeling:

  • hardware;
  • chemical.

The first includes, in particular, dermabrasion - hard cleansing of the face with a special metal brush or a softer brush (a device with rotating brushes made of natural bristles), when the balls of the epidermis are removed step by step.

The grinding technique allows you to permanently get rid of such defects as:

  • scars;
  • post-acne;
  • scars after chickenpox;
  • consequences of acne;
  • natural (freckles, spots) and artificial skin pigmentation (tattoos), against which peeling with fruit acids is also effective.

Professional facial peelings

Professional facial peeling involves the procedure being carried out by qualified cosmetologists in a salon. This will ensure its high safety and the same efficiency, achieved not only thanks to specialized equipment and experience of workers, but also the latter’s individual approach to each visitor.

The universal characteristics of peelings and pre-preparation for them were reviewed; Below is a description of the distinctive features of its types and the preparations intended for them.

Enzyme facial peeling

Enzyme facial peeling is a metabolic-accelerating facial skin treatment with enzyme products based on:

  • pineapple and papaya— from the Organique company in Poland (suitable for all skin types), “Bark” gommage with phytoenzymes (removes acne marks);
  • salicylic acid— “Stopproblem” from Michel Laboratory, Eveline Cosmetics, Dr. Irena Eris (has an antiseptic effect and prevents the appearance of acne; intended for problem skin);
  • lactic acid— “Premium”, “Milk mousse” (against rosacea and hyperpigmentation), “GiGi” and “Retinol Forte” (improves blood microcirculation, increases the production of elastin and collagen) with phosphoric acid and retinol, Dermalogica, Age smart (anti-aging products);
  • glycolic acid— “Platinum” and “RVB” (7%), “One Care” (20%) (whitens, activates collagen production, smoothes wrinkles).

This is one of the most gentle and gentle peelings on a natural basis, improving the condition and appearance of delicate areas of the skin.

It is one of the types of exfoliation, because enzymes are enzymatic exfoliants.

In a beauty salon, the procedure is carried out as follows:

  1. The face is cleansed of makeup and impurities using lotion.
  2. Then a pre-peeling solution is applied to the skin, which is prepared from a powder and is applied to the skin for 15 minutes, or a gel is applied for half an hour.
  3. During the session, slight discomfort is felt in the form of a slight burning and tingling sensation, which indicates the introduction of medicinal acids into the skin structure, but after washing off the medicine with warm water, it goes away.

Its approximate cost is 1500 rubles.

Gas-liquid facial peeling

Gas-liquid facial peeling is a non-contact, operational skin cleansing developed in Israel under a pressure of 8 atm using a special device that sprays an oxygen-carbon dioxide gas mixture at a speed of up to 300 m/sec.

This allows for both tightening and superficial massage, adjusting the depth of penetration (for severe skin imperfections). So, has a healing effect:

  • sprayed oxygen, promoting better absorption of nutrients by the dermis from the inside and outside,
  • saline solution 0.9% sodium chloride
  • or a vitamin moisturizing cocktail.

The price of the procedure is 2000-2200 rubles.

Chemical peeling of the face

Chemical or phenol peeling - deep facial cleansing performed in a hospital setting in the following way:

Chemical peeling can be done at home using special products.
  • the skin is treated with an exfoliating preparation;
  • then anesthesia is administered (usually local);
  • the skin is disinfected with alcohol and acetone;
  • a mixture of phenolic acid with propylene glycol, distilled water and liquid glycerin with oil is applied to the face;
  • at the end, silicone is applied, forming a film, which, in turn, is covered with a mixture of jelly, similar to semi-liquid wax;
  • the formed mask is left for 1-3 days, allowing free phenol to enter into chemical reactions with the skin, after which the doctor removes the film along with the remaining particles;
  • then the skin undergoes no less deep moisturizing with the cream, absorbing it for 40-120 minutes.

The cost of peeling ranges from 500-1200 rubles.

Almond facial peeling

Almond facial peeling: what it is is especially interesting for owners of porous, oily skin to know.

This is a superficial chemical peel with mandelic acid.
This acid is a powerful comedolytic (breaks down sebaceous plugs) and a keratolytic, or exfoliating substance that fights acne and post-acne inflammation.

It is a worthy alternative to mechanical cleaning. In other respects, it acts in the same way as other peels.

A line of drugs from the well-known MedicControlPeel brand:

  1. "Martinex";
  2. Alpika Tool Set;
  3. "Cosmoteros".

Experts often use it to prepare the skin for further procedures: SCP or laser resurfacing.

The price of 1 session is 1-4 thousand rubles, a course, which includes up to 8 procedures, is approximately 22 thousand rubles.

Peeling roll for face

The facial peeling roller removes keratinized particles from the surface layer of the skin, which makes it easier to remove sebaceous and dust accumulations from the pores. Their active elements - cellulose, calcium chloride, lactic and fruit acids, “sweep away” dead skin particles along their path, rolling them together with impurities.

The peeling roll is ideal for thin skin with closely spaced blood vessels.

Popular means of this type of peeling:

  1. "Renophase";
  2. "Shiseido Green Tea";
  3. "Shilibao" (gel peeling);

Laser facial peeling

CO2 laser facial cleansing is carried out with a high-precision erbium laser, which reduces the thermal effect on the skin.

Thereby the procedure is less time-consuming and painful(which is partly achieved with local painkillers) and is not traumatic.

The laser is capable of drying the contents of cells in a small fraction of a second. It activates collagen production, stimulating the contraction of its fibers, which has a leveling lifting effect.

The price of a session is 7-9 thousand rubles. The course consists of no more than 10 procedures.

Ultrasonic facial peeling

Facial cleansing with ultrasonic radiation, which causes vibrations and mechanical pressure in the surface layers of the skin, promotes the gentle separation of dead cells from viable ones without any damage.

It allows:

  • even out skin tone and texture;
  • establish local lymph and blood circulation;
  • reduce tissue swelling;
  • increase hydration and depth of penetration of nutrients into the skin.

The issue price is 3000 rubles. For the procedure. 1 course equals 5-10 sessions.

Calcium chloride for face (peeling)

Peeling with calcium chloride slows down cataplasia (aging) of the skin. The basis of its action, like all other chemical peels, is the renewal of the deep layers of the dermis due to microtrauma and subsequent destruction of the upper ones: at first this is manifested by a slight burning sensation, which is quite normal (with the exception of itching along with redness, which may indicate hypersensitivity to chloride calcium).

The procedure is carried out both in the salon and at home, once a week, in the following way:

  1. The cleansed skin is covered with foam of baby soap;
  2. Clean fingers are dipped into a 5%-10% solution of calcium chloride and rubbed into the face with massaging movements until a slight squeak and pellets appear;
  3. Wash off the product from the skin;
  4. Refresh your face with tonic or cream.

Ampoules with calcium chloride are available in any pharmacy at a price of about 40 rubles; salon services will cost 3,000 rubles.

Acid peeling for face

Acid peeling for the face is ideal for girls over 25 years old, that is, those who have not yet encountered obvious problems of aging, but may have difficulty caring for pigmented skin with enlarged pores.

One of the simplest and therefore most common types of acid peeling is with fruit acids.

It is divided into the following acid groups:

  • fruit;
  • dairy;
  • glycolic;
  • salicylic;
  • retinol;
  • almond.

Session price - 1000 rubles; The frequency of the procedure is 1 time every 7 or more days.

Milk peeling for face

Milk facial peeling is good for mature skin and: lactic acids (part of the preparations “Lactikpil” 50%, “Secret Key”) give the skin a healthy shine and elasticity lost over the years.

Milk peeling is usually used as a preparatory stage

It won't fix serious problems, but it can prevent many:

  • giving the skin tone,
  • increasing its elasticity,
  • removing small expression wrinkles.

Cosmetologists usually use it in stage-by-stage and preparatory peeling. The cost of such a procedure ranges around 1,500 rubles.

Glycolic facial peeling

Glycolic facial peeling minimizes the symptoms of photoaging, eliminates the problem of “ingrown hair”, small folds, and gray skin; acts as a preparatory stage for salon peeling.

Glycolic acid is included in:

Carbon facial peeling

Carbon peeling is a relatively new peeling technique in our latitudes, while in Europe and the USA it has already been tested enough to be in great demand.

The therapeutic effect is ensured by the double exposure of the laser and carbon gel with nanoparticles applied to the skin.
The laser beam, hitting the carbon pigment contained in the gel, enters into an instant reaction with dead skin cells and, drying the mixture, leads to its detachment along with keratinized particles.

It fights all the previously listed skin problems, is used at any time of the year, is absolutely painless and does not lead to complications.

The maximum number of peeling sessions is 5 in 5 weeks. The price of the procedure is relatively reasonable - from 2000 rubles.

Retinol facial peeling

Retinol, or yellow peeling, is carried out by applying products containing retinoic acid to the skin., which in color resembles lemon juice with honey.

This is a superficial type of peeling. It is most useful for women from 35 to 50 years old.

It is safe, acts carefully, and the properties of this acid are no different from its predecessor - retinol, or vitamin A, the main advantage of which is its anti-aging properties. Among its obvious advantages is the shortest period during which the skin recovers after cleansing with its help - only 2 days.

Preparations with retinoic acid:

  • pharmacy "Retin-A cream" 0.05%;
  • Russian “Carrots peel” from “Arcadia”, “Cimel” from “Martinex”, “Medicontrolpeel” from “Toscani Laboratory”;

The price of the procedure is from 1450 rubles.

Diamond facial peeling - what is it?

Having heard for the first time that there is a diamond facial peeling, what it really is, not everyone immediately understands correctly.

Diamond peeling is a special grinding of the skin using a vacuum suction device coated with diamond.
, whose microcrystals provide high-quality dermabrasion not only of the face, but also of any other area of the body that requires a delicate approach: neck, décolleté, stretch marks.

This is one of the few hypoallergenic and low-traumatic peels that do not require strong analgesics during implementation. Otherwise, it gives the same effects as other mechanical cleaning methods, except that, according to client reviews, it adds more velvety and “sleekness” to the skin.

To obtain a high result, a single use of diamond dermabrasion may be sufficient, but the procedure can also be repeated several times within a week, which should be determined by a specialist when examining the skin.

The price for one-time use of this cleaning is 1.5-3 thousand rubles.

Fruit peeling for face

Fruit facial peeling provides atraumatic cleansing while saturating the skin with vitamins and antioxidants; it not only has an exfoliating effect on old cells, but also accelerates the formation of new ones.

Below list of famous brands of peelings with fruit acids:

  1. “Carrot’s peel” from “Arcadia”;
  2. Planeta Organica;
  3. "Bio Phito";
  4. "Dermalogica" (gentle cream peeling);
  5. "Christina"
  6. "Age-Peel Filorga";
  7. "Janssen";
  8. "Mirra Professional";
  9. Japanese "BCL Clear Peeling lotion".

Gemene and Holy Land peelings are ideal for use at home.

This type of peeling, in comparison with others, has a fairly affordable price in the salon - from 460 rubles.

To carry out home peeling you need:

  • moisturize and cleanse the skin with lotion or foam;
  • apply the peeling mixture in a uniform layer to the areas of the body cleansed for the procedure (face, neck, peri-thoracic area, etc.), without missing a single centimeter so that the skin is treated evenly, but avoiding the areas around the eyes and lips;
  • leave for 15-20 minutes, if there is no excessive discomfort or the skin is very oily - 30 minutes; to enhance the effect, you can cover your face/body with a whole piece of cling film, cutting out the nasolabial and eye holes in advance, or cut into 10-centimeter strips;
  • wash off the composition from the skin with a large volume of cooled but still warm boiling water;
    as after salon facial peeling, the skin should not be touched throughout the day, as this can introduce infection into the “bare” skin, which is fraught with consequences such as mycoses and pyoderma;
  • as after salon peeling, the face should not be touched throughout the day, and for the next 3-5 days you should only care for the skin with mild products (foaming cleansers, micellar water, hydrophilic oils), using additional moisturizers.

How to do peeling at home:

At home? Beauty salon recipes use effective chemical compounds and acids. The procedures are performed by professionals using special equipment, often under local anesthesia. Is it possible to repeat at home what they do in salons? Isn't this dangerous for health?

Let's start with the basics. Peeling is divided into superficial, medium and deep based on the depth of its effect on the layers of the skin. And at home, only the first type of procedure can be performed quite normally and harmlessly for the face. This peeling will help eliminate fine wrinkles, get rid of dead skin cells, and improve skin texture and color. Also, this manipulation will contribute to the disappearance of pimples and blackheads. But acne, medium and deep wrinkles, scars and other cosmetic problems require a professional approach. In the salon, cosmetologists use acids of varying concentrations to controllably burn the stratum corneum and penetrate into the lower areas. They perform this procedure while the patient is partially anesthetized. This circumstance makes it impossible to do average at home. You will find recipes for gentle procedures in this article.

What types of superficial peels are there?

It is quite possible to cleanse the epidermis of dead particles, dirt plugs and sebaceous secretions at home. For this procedure, gentle products with a low concentration of active substances are used. Therefore, if you make a mistake, you will not cause irreparable damage to your face in the form of burns or scars. This will be minimal damage and will resolve within one hour.

There are mechanical and chemical peels for the face at home. Recipes for the first type of impact are based on the use of small abrasive particles. They effectively exfoliate dead cells, cleanse the skin and increase blood circulation. Abrasive particles are included in various scrubs. In order not to disturb the pH level of dry skin, it is better to use gommage. Apply it for a few minutes, and then roll the product with your fingertips. For superficial chemical peeling, substances containing low-active acids are used: salicylic, lactic and others. They penetrate the epidermis, promote cell exfoliation, stimulate and restore turgor.

Substances for home peeling

The procedure is best carried out using pharmaceutical preparations or natural products based on alpha and beta hydroxy acids. These are gentle substances that can cause irritation only in hypersensitive people. Alpha hydroxy acids include citrus juices, fermented milk products, apple cider vinegar and wine vinegar. These substances actively fight acne, eliminate the effects of photoaging (from sun exposure) and small areas of pigmentation.

Glycolic acid can be used for both superficial and medium peeling at home for the face. The recipe depends on the concentration of this substance. If the drug contains about 25%, it is suitable for use at home. Glycolic acid in a concentration of 40 percent or more is used only in salons. People with oily skin need a different peel. It is based on the use of salicylic acid. It dissolves sebaceous secretions well, penetrates into the deep layers, and disinfects. Other organic substances based on herbs, willow bark, sugar cane, apricot kernels, and coffee grounds are also used in home cosmetology.

Preparing for peeling

This procedure - be it mechanical or chemical in nature - cannot be performed on the eyelids and under the eyes, lips, eyebrows and nostrils. Therefore, before applying the active substance, these areas must be lubricated with Vaseline. Before performing a chemical facial peel at home, recipes recommend cleansing the skin with a scrub one day before the procedure. Next, you should test your body's perception of the chemical. To do this, apply a small amount to the area of skin behind the ear, on the hairline or on the forearm. Wait a minute and then rinse with warm water. A little redness is not an alarming symptom. But burning and intense irritation are a sign that this substance is unacceptable for you. In order for the results of the cosmetic procedure to be long-lasting, it must be repeated once a week for one to one and a half months.

Peeling devices

As an alternative to salon facial cleansing, manufacturers of household appliances offer various devices that allow you to carry out the procedure yourself. These devices recommend using special recipes suitable for procedures such as mechanical facial peeling at home. Reviews also praise the safe and easy-to-use devices. Such devices are not cheap, but beauty requires sacrifice. And if the health of your facial skin is also at stake, then you don’t mind spending any money.

What devices can be used at home? These are, first of all, various ultrasonic scrubbers and brushes. The multifunctional device Gezatone Beauty Irism 708 has proven itself well. Thanks to the iontophoresis function, it can even be used to perform disincrustation (deep facial cleansing). Users leave positive reviews about the Gezatone Ionic-Ultrasonic m360 ultrasonic massager, Gezatone Super Wet Cleaner vacuum cleaner, Galvanic Beauty SPA m777 and Gezatone KUS 2000 devices. But there are also contraindications for using these, in general, safe peeling devices. In the case when there are rashes on the face (including viral ones, such as herpes), if the skin is affected by acne and pimples, then it is better to refuse the devices.

At what age can you do facial peeling at home?

It consists of proper self-care. You shouldn’t neglect cosmetic procedures, but you shouldn’t overuse them either. Before using any facial cleanser, you need to determine your skin type. Store-bought masks and scrubs are easy to use, but the components in them are more aggressive. You should not use them at a young age. Young girls with problematic oily skin can opt for scrubs. They can be used at least daily, but you need to avoid inflamed areas. If the skin is dry, then it is recommended to replace scrubs with gommages, and allow yourself the procedure once a week. If your skin remains oily even after thirty, reviews still recommend reducing the use of the scrub.

Weak glycolic, salicylic and Jessner peels up to 25 years are used only in cases of serious cosmetic problems. After thirty, you can start using AHA acids as a preventive measure for aging. At the same age, it is indicated for problematic and oily skin. After thirty-five, it is advisable to occasionally use retinoic facial cleansing. Porous mature skin will benefit from a 25% TCA peel. Before using pharmaceutical, purchased or self-prepared drugs, a sensitivity test to the components of the chemical composition should be performed. Persons with dry skin or in adulthood need to combine peeling with the use of creams with polyunsaturated acids.

Scrubs for oily skin

With this type, it is important to deep cleanse the pores clogged with sebum and narrow them. Here is the simplest peeling at home for the face. The recipe does not require any special ingredients. Take baby soap and lather it well in your hands. Apply to face, avoiding eyelid area. Place a teaspoon of sugar in your palm and massage your face in light circular movements for two minutes. Rinse off with cool water. Next time, use baking soda instead of sugar. After such peeling, the skin will lose its oily shine and become matte and smooth. And the following recipe allows you to achieve a rejuvenating effect. Cut the peel from a fresh cucumber, grind the pulp of the vegetable in a blender, and squeeze out the juice. Mix in a bowl a large spoonful of oatmeal with a small spoonful of finely ground iodized salt. Add cucumber juice until you get a paste. Pour two drops of rose oil into it. Massage your face with this scrub for two minutes and leave on the skin for another ten. Kefir and yogurt are an excellent gommage. Just apply the fermented milk product to your face and wait until it dries. Then, with wet fingers, roll it from your forehead to your chin.

Exfoliating Scrubs

If you want to remove keratinized particles of the epidermis, then you need to carry out a completely different peeling at home for the face. The recipe suggests including more solid particles in the composition. These can be eggshells, rice, almonds, and berry seeds crushed in a coffee grinder. To avoid causing mini-scratches to yourself, fatty essential oils or flour are added to this scrub. Here's the first recipe. Mix a pinch of ground coffee and rice flour. Dilute with two soup spoons of kefir. Massage your face with the mixture, leave for seven minutes, then rinse with cool water. Second recipe: mash a spoonful of cranberries, add a little almond butter, two drops of orange juice, two cubes of brown sugar and a pinch of oatmeal to the pulp. Rub it in like a peeling and leave it on for another five minutes like a mask.

Gommages for dry skin

This requires special facial peeling at home. The recipe for dry skin requires the mandatory use of nourishing and moisturizing components in the gommage composition. This is full-fat cottage cheese, olive oil, sour cream. The abrasive particles should be smaller in diameter than those used for oily skin. Here's the first recipe. Grind the eggshells into flour. Mix one teaspoon of it with the same amount of sour cream and yolk. Apply to a damp face with light movements, massage and leave as a mask for a quarter of an hour, then rinse with warm water. Recipe two: mash four strawberries, dilute the pulp with a spoon of olive oil.

Chemical peeling with alpha hydroxy acids

As we have already mentioned, these compounds include fruit juices, lactic acid products, and vinegar. Citrus peeling at home is especially good for the face. This lemon recipe not only cleanses the skin, but also brightens and rejuvenates it. This mask acts as a lift. Mix two tablespoons of lemon juice and cane sugar. Add neutral yogurt. Apply the mixture to a cleansed face in a thick layer. Leave the mask for a quarter of an hour and rinse with cool water. For older ladies, after washing, it is useful to wipe the skin with a swab dipped in a solution of lemon juice.

Homemade peeling with beta hydroxy acids

The best substance in this series is aspirin. According to reviews, it gently dries the skin and disinfects it. Aspirin leads to exfoliation. This product lightens freckles. In addition, the cheap drug is sold in every pharmacy without a prescription. How to make such peeling at home for the face? The recipe with aspirin (also called acetylsalicylic acid) is very simple and can be used for all skin types. Three tablets need to be crushed. For dry skin, the powder is diluted in an incomplete spoon of jojoba oil, and for oily skin - with plain water.

Add honey. It should have a liquid consistency. Place the mixture in a water bath and cook, stirring, until it thickens like sour cream. Apply to a thoroughly cleansed and steamed face. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes. We make an aspirin neutralizer: mix water and soda. Wash your face with this solution.

Cleansing skin during inflammation

Facial peeling at home for problem skin requires disinfection. You should not scrub acne with the scrub. Cosmetic clay (blue, pink or red) is suitable as an abrasive, and aspirin is used for disinfection. Grind two tablets. Mix with a spoonful of clay. Dilute with water until you get a paste. Let's add bergamot and tea tree oils there. Let's put on a mask. Cover your face with a damp cloth. After a quarter of an hour, wash it off with a neutralizer.

Cleanse your face. Let's wipe it with alcohol. Let's prepare the neutralizer. Apply Vaseline to your nostrils, lips and eyebrows. Using a brush, quickly apply Skin Obsession 30% to your face. Hold for exactly a minute. Wash off with a neutralizer. Apply nourishing cream. After a week, we repeat the procedure, increasing the exposure time to two to three minutes.

Getting a good result from chemical peeling directly depends not only on the chosen rejuvenation technique and the correct selection of active ingredients. An important role is played by the professionalism of the specialist and compliance with all accepted standards during the session. Even if the manipulation is carried out at home, it is necessary to take into account the specific features that chemical peeling has - the procedure in this case will not cause discomfort and a positive result will be guaranteed.

Preparing the epidermis for chemical peeling

Without proper preparation of the epidermis for the effects of chemical components, the development of complications, side effects, discomfort and pain can be provoked. In addition, the cleaning result will be smoothed out or completely invisible. The list of measures depends on the depth of the impact planned and what ingredients will be used for the chemical peeling. The preparation procedure can take from a few minutes to several weeks and even months.

If you plan to carry out superficial cleaning, during preparation it is necessary to identify possible contraindications, treat chronic diseases, and conduct preventive antiviral therapy if there is a herpes virus in the body.

Direct preparation of the epidermis consists of moisturizing the skin before the upcoming drying procedure (if it is not milk or almond peeling), smoothing the surface of the stratum corneum, and improving its permeability.

An equally important step is to test the tolerability of the components and develop the gradual adaptation of tissues to the chemical reagents that will be used for chemical peeling. This type of procedure can be performed even at home. For this purpose, a special pre-peeling composition or a weak solution of the drug that will be used for cleaning is regularly applied to the skin. Low concentration fruit acids can also be used.

Some chemical compounds do not penetrate well through the lipid layer on the surface of the face, so 3-5 days before the main session, the use of degreasing lotions is prescribed.

In addition to cosmetic procedures aimed at preparing the body, a certain regime is established. Visiting the swimming pool and solarium is prohibited; in some cases, taking a number of medications and physical activity are limited.

A deeper effect on the epidermis may include preparation recommendations typical for superficial peeling. In addition, such training has certain features:

  • two or three weeks before exposure, a superficial peel using glycolic acid may be prescribed. After this, until the day of the mid-cleansing, daily use of creams with fruit acids is prescribed.
  • Even before the procedure, the epidermis must be provided with complete protection from ultraviolet radiation. The cosmetologist selects sunscreen based on skin type, which the patient should use before the procedure.
  • at least a month before the planned intervention, the use of scrubs, washcloths, thick sponges, hair removal, and eyebrow correction is prohibited. This is done to prevent damage to the integrity of the skin.
  • At the discretion of the cosmetologist, certain medications may be prescribed, for example, those that strengthen the walls of blood vessels. This solution will ensure rapid tissue restoration.

The main thing in preparing for deep peeling is to prevent the development of complications. For this purpose, a thorough examination of the body, especially the kidneys, liver and heart, is carried out, and antioxidants and drugs that improve vascular function are prescribed. Six months before the intervention, retinoids are stopped.

Cosmetological preparation includes the use of bleaching compounds to prevent hyperpigmentation. Three months before peeling, stop visiting the solarium and sunbathing. For 10 days before the procedure, no procedures are performed that could cause injury to the epidermis.

Chemical peeling (procedure)

The peeling procedure itself takes from several minutes to several hours, and some manipulations are completed by the patient independently, at home. Most manipulations are carried out within 20-40 minutes, including aggressive preparation. The session algorithm is the same for all treatment options and has only slight specific differences depending on the type of peeling.

Stage 1 – Preparation. Consists of cleansing the skin of makeup and dirt. For this purpose, milk or a special gel is used. After the face is cleansed, the surface of the skin is degreased with tonic and disinfected to prevent the development of infection. At this stage, it is possible to treat the face with a pre-peeling composition to increase the permeability of the epidermis and align its structure (then the action of the components will be uniform).

Stage 2 - Chemical peeling. The procedure involves applying a peeling composition to the surface of the face. This can be a soft or aggressive technique, applying the mass in one or several layers. The exposure time of the drug is determined by a specialist; this factor may be influenced by the appearance of burning, redness, swelling, frost, and pain. After a certain time, the composition is neutralized (if acids were used) and then removed.

Stage 3 – Care immediately after peeling. Includes the use of masks, creams, lotions and tonics that can moisturize the skin, reduce the severity of burning and pain, and soothe the irritated epidermis. The list of activities is provided by the cosmetologist in advance and carried out according to indications.

Skin care immediately after a chemical peel

The duration and complexity of the rehabilitation period depends on the type of chemical peeling performed. The procedure of superficial or medium cleansing, using enzymes or peptides, cleansing based on placenta, bamboo or succinic acid, yellow peeling - do not cause damage to the integrity of the skin and have a short recovery period. At the same time, it is recommended to use drugs that promote the activation of cellular processes, moisturizing and antioxidant compounds.

After medium and deep peelings, which lead to burning of several layers of the epidermis, long-term and careful care is required. It consists of following a certain regime, refusing a number of activities and medications, and using regenerating, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory compounds. Any mechanical impact on sensitive skin should be prevented. In case of severe pain, painkillers and antibiotics may be prescribed.

The recovery period should be carried out taking into account the instructions of the specialist who performed the procedure. This will allow you to recover faster, avoid complications and consolidate the results of the rejuvenating session.

In order for the face to shine with freshness and beauty, the skin must be systematically cleansed of dust, dead particles and oily film. Pollution prevents her from breathing fully and slows down blood circulation. As a result, irritation, pimples, and blackheads appear on the skin. Facial peeling removes clogged pores, prevents cell aging, and lightens pigmentation.

Regular skin cleansing is a reliable way to remove inflammation, improve complexion and maintain attractiveness.

What is the secret of peeling?

Just a few decades ago, not all women knew about peeling, and only a few could understand what it was, although the procedure itself was well known to everyone. This type of facial skin care has been practiced since ancient times. Our ancestors carried out cleansing with wet river sand and various homemade products. This had a beneficial effect on the appearance, making the faces of beauties clean and radiant.

Now most women know well what peeling is. The name translated from English means “deep clean”, “scrape”. These words accurately convey the essence of the procedure. With its help, dirt and dead cells are removed from the pores. The epidermis is saturated with oxygen and nutrients, after which its intensive renewal begins.

A cosmetic procedure is necessary for all women without exception. The fact is that the cells of the upper layers of the skin die every 28 days, turning into keratinized particles. If they are not cleaned regularly, they clog pores, interfere with the appearance of new cells, and contribute to facial aging.

The main secret of peeling is that it helps the skin recover, cleansing it down to the layer where living young cells are located. In addition, it tightens the pores, preventing bacteria and dirt from entering there and destroys blockage of the sebaceous glands.

After peeling, the production of collagen and elastin in cells increases. These substances are necessary to smooth out wrinkles and elasticity of the skin.

What kind of peeling is there?

Depending on the effect on the skin, the procedure is:

  • chemical, when keratinized particles are dissolved with caustic substances;
  • mechanical, in which dead cells are removed from the skin using modern devices;
  • physical, requiring softening of the skin and impurities before cleansing.

Facial peeling also differs in the degree of penetration deep into the skin. There are three types of influence.

  • The most gentle procedure is superficial peeling. It only affects the top layer of skin. For its use, fruit acids are often used, which quickly eliminate flaking, refresh and improve complexion. Superficial cleaning is easy to do yourself using available cosmetics.
  • Medium peeling helps to cope with many defects on the face. It is done in a cosmetology office using chemical solutions or a special apparatus that removes the stratum corneum and polishes the skin. To achieve the desired effect, several procedures are required with an interval of 10 days. After each session, comprehensive facial care is required under the supervision of a specialist.
  • Deep peeling is used by women to get rid of scars, stretch marks, acne and severe wrinkles. This serious intervention in the layers of the skin should be trusted to professionals and done under local anesthesia in a hospital setting. Strong chemical or mechanical effects injure the skin, so the patient needs medical supervision for three days after cleaning. Complete healing, during which burning and tightness is felt, occurs within a month.

Depending on what problem needs to be eliminated, you can choose a peeling procedure aimed at relieving the inflammatory process, moisturizing, exfoliating unnecessary particles or regenerating the skin.

Indications and contraindications

If you want to cleanse your face with deep or medium peeling, you should definitely consult a doctor, because the procedures have many contraindications.

They are prohibited from doing:

  • during pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • with the development of dermatitis or herpes;
  • if there are cuts, ulcers, or severe inflammation on the face.

Some women often experience an allergic reaction to the peeling components. This must be taken into account when deciding to undergo cleansing in a beauty salon.

Superficial peeling is easy to do at home using natural products. It is useful for regular facial cleansing for girls over 18 years of age. For medicinal purposes, the following signals serve as a signal:

  • enlarged pores;
  • red spots remaining after acne healing, small scars;
  • freckles and age spots;
  • excessive dryness and tightness of the skin;
  • manifestation of signs of aging.

Oily skin is in dire need of exfoliation. It is prone to inflammation, quickly becomes dirty, and becomes covered with a greasy coating.

What you need for the procedure at home

To make a facial peel, you can purchase a special composition at the pharmacy or prepare it yourself. You will need components that every housewife has on hand:

  • coarse salt;
  • oat bran;
  • powdered nut kernels;
  • coffee grounds.

You can enhance the cleansing effect and saturate the skin with vitamins and minerals with auxiliary ingredients. Their selection is very wide.

  • It is useful to use honey, cottage cheese, olive oil.
  • A good result is achieved when using fresh fruits, for example, strawberries, apples.
  • A composition of medicinal herbs is ideal for sensitive skin.

The features of light facial peeling are such that it has a wonderful effect on the skin, slowing down the aging process, maintaining tone and maintaining a blooming appearance. It comes in two types:

  • a scrub consisting of rough particles that act aggressively;
  • gommage, which has a delicate consistency that painlessly and gently cleanses the skin.

A self-prepared composition for home peeling does not provide an instant effect, like salon procedures, but with regular use it greatly improves the appearance, rejuvenates, makes the skin soft and rosy.

Rules of application

For a full effect on the skin when cleansing, you need to follow some recommendations.

  • First of all, prepare your face. It should be steamed over a herbal decoction for about 15 minutes to stimulate the opening of the pores and soften the dust accumulated there.
  • The cleansing composition should be applied along the massage lines in a circular motion, gently rubbing into the skin.
  • A light massage should be continued for 2-3 minutes, and then rinse off the applied product with warm water.

Gommage and scrub are recommended to be used in the evenings, so that during night sleep the skin calms down after the procedure. If necessary, the composition can be applied during the day, but in this case, try not to go out into the fresh air for 2-3 hours.

After washing off the cleansing components of the peeling from your face, use a nourishing cream, or best of all, pamper your skin with a moisturizing natural mask.

In order for facial cleansing to bring maximum benefit, you need to choose the right composition. You also need to know the frequency of manipulations. The facial peeling procedure requires taking into account the individual characteristics of the skin.

  • Dry and normal skin requires cleaning once every 10 days.
  • Oily skin needs peeling 2 times a week.
  • Women with sensitive skin, which has a thin structure, need to cleanse once every 1-2 weeks, using soft, gentle products.

Whitening peeling

When you need to lighten age spots, freckles, or simply whiten and cleanse your skin, lemon juice facial peeling can help.
