It is not necessary to give your husband a homemade gift for the holiday; sometimes he just needs care and attention, and at the same time warm things that you can provide him with. The simplest thing a needlewoman can do for her men is knit socks for them. Even a beginner knitter can handle this task. You can learn how to knit men's socks without the help of video lessons.

Knitting men's socks with knitting needles

For this we need:

  • five thin knitting needles No. 2;
  • half-wool yarn of any color you like. Two skeins up to 250 m long will be enough. You can take 4 balls, two different shades of the same color. We will knit the model’s toe and heel darker;
  • about six hours to complete the job. You can do handicrafts in the evenings.

To create warm socks for men, you don’t need diagrams; we give a simple description. During the explanations we will use abbreviations:

  • row - r.;
  • loops - p;
  • spoke – SP;
  • facial loop - LP;
  • purl - IP.

Knitting begins with an elastic band. We cast on 60 points for two joint ventures. We distribute them into 4 joint ventures. Let's get the first p. 15 p. Close the circle. We knit with an elastic band 1x1 (1 LP, 1 IP, wrong side according to the pattern) 24 r. We move on to the front surface: across the face - LP, on the back - IP. It is not customary for men to knit patterns on their socks. Therefore, we simply knit stitch another 12 r. This way we will get high socks that will warm the entire shin. If you need products that are not so tall, you should knit no more than 4-6 r.
Heel of the sock. For it, yarn of a slightly darker color is often used to make the socks look more interesting. There is no special scheme here either. We simply collect items from two joint ventures into one large one. On the rest we continue to knit in satin stitch for another 10 r. Now you need to collect 30 points for one joint venture, then distribute them again into 3 joint ventures in this order: 1 joint venture - 9 points, 2 joint ventures - 12 points, 3 joint ventures - 9 points.

Next, we knit only the central part, on each side in each row, knitting from the last stitch, another stitch from the side joints. So our loops from the side joints will gradually be removed into the main knitting, forming an angle. You will get a heel. If the process is difficult for novice needlewomen, you can watch a video tutorial, but the description is enough to get the job done.
How to knit the toe of socks. Divide the bottom of the heel into two joints; add an additional number of loops to them on the side of the heel. So on each joint from the bottom you will get 18 stitches. We remove the upper stitches from one joint into two, 15 stitches each. We knit the stockinette stitch in the usual circle. But first it is necessary in the first, third and fifth p. remove extra 3p. from the lower spokes. In the indicated areas we knit 2 p. at the beginning of the top of the heel. Then everything follows the same scheme, another 20 - 26 rubles, it depends on the size of the man’s feet.

Knitting a sock is easy. In every r. remove 1 st from the side on each joint. It is better to take not the end loops, but the 2nd and 3rd stitches on each side on the joint venture. At the same time, we begin to remove gradually, through the row. On the fifth circle, you can start removing sts in each row. . In the last one, tie the remaining 4 stitches together and tighten the thread.
Repeat the second sock in the same way. Knitting men's socks with knitting needles is simple and quick. It is more interesting to decorate them with some kind of pattern, stripes or small stars of a different color. If you know this technique, you can create a drawing yourself; for new ideas you don’t need to watch a video, just draw up a diagram yourself. For stripes: every 2 rubles. new color. For stars, it is better to choose a pattern separately and see how many times it will need to be repeated.

After the men's
will be tied, it is better to immediately wash them, straighten them and dry them. Afterwards they will become softer and fit better on the leg.

Features and Benefits

Knitted socks are the most indispensable thing to keep your feet warm in the frosty winter. Men's knitted socks can be purchased ready-made in stores, or you can knit them yourself from wool or yarn. The second option is preferable because it is possible to perfectly adjust the product to the required size and create warm socks to your liking.

Hand knitted wool socks have the following wonderful benefits:

  • they retain heat in the legs much better than knitted or synthetic products, even multi-layer ones;
  • they are made from natural materials;
  • knitted socks can also be worn at home if the temperature in the apartment does not allow walking with bare feet;
  • they have a cozy homely look.

Knitting tools and materials

Fans of knitting use knitting needles or hooks to create such socks. The 5-knitting needle method allows you to create a product without a single seam. At the same time, the socks are knitted in a spiral and sit very comfortably, softly on the foot. There is also a method of knitting on 2 knitting needles, which is the simplest, and can be used by novice housewives. Typically circular knitting needles are used. The method allows you to create seams of any complexity.

The most commonly used materials are hand knitting yarns consisting of wool and acrylic. Synthetics are added to natural components so that the products do not stretch over time and retain their color. Yarn made from sheep's wool is the most common. It can be easily painted in any color. And items of clothing made from it are warm and do not allow the cold to pass through, even if they are slightly wet. Socks made of camel wool have a thin and neat seam structure. They are soft and tender. This material does not electrify and does not cause allergies on the body, and has a beneficial effect on the skin.

Fashionable socks made of mohair - angora goat wool - can also be dyed in any color. This material is durable, resistant to stains, and does not pill. Wool obtained from silkworm fiber is durable and warm, does not shrink when washed, and allows you to create an even fabric when knitting. And synthetic viscose yarn tends to dry out very quickly.

Fashion models

In order to create a durable and elastic model, there are certain knitting patterns. These can be uniform loops created using 2 or 5 knitting needles, openwork fabric patterns made from threads of several colors, or volumetric decor with ornaments, pompoms or appliqué.

The simplest options for knitted men's socks are models with a pattern on the cuff. The upper part is knitted evenly without adding or subtracting stitches. Various knitting patterns can be used. Next they move on to the front part, which is done in the traditional way. The colors can be either monotonous, or with two or more colors using different threads of yarn. Striped socks, with an ornament or a colored picture on the front, look great.

Norwegian pattern knits are a very colorful option that use 2 or more colors to create textures or patterns. The style is usually made in northern Lapland imagery, containing appropriate ornaments or images of deer. Due to their harsh climate, Norwegians have always taken care of the warmth of their clothes, so such models are not only beautiful, but also very warm. A variation of the “Norwegian” models are socks with a jacquard pattern. They have a special knitting principle, invented specifically for harsh winters. And the method of applying an ornament of 2 or 3 colors was to the taste of many connoisseurs of woolen products.

Socks with a stripe pattern begin to be knitted from the cuff. After it is completed, they begin to create the front part. In order for the patterns to be symmetrical, create a loop pattern on paper in advance. This is one of the simplest options that is best used by beginners.

Patterns with a pattern all over the surface are usually made by more experienced knitters. The distribution of the ornament on them should be symmetrical and proportional. Therefore, loops and rows are calculated in advance on paper by cells. The patterns themselves are placed on the cuffs, front and sides, and the feet are left smooth. Three-dimensional models are good because they always look impressive and can make an impression and be a wonderful gift.

There are sock options with a simple heel and a thicker bottom. It is made in order to increase the softness when walking and reduce wear on the sole. The wrong side of the heel in them is thick, double knitted.

Knitted socks for sports and tourism are widely available on sale. They usually have a minimal pattern and are made from dark yarn of the same color. The main task of such products is to provide warmth in boots, sneakers or ankle boots during a long stay in the cold.

Stylish socks with a monogram are also knitted with knitting needles. For the image, special harnesses are used inside the front part. The monogram is sewn into them. This could be the initial letter of the name, a symbol, a coat of arms or a logo from the designer. Such models can often be purchased in fashion stores and boutiques.

Hello, friends!

According to the unanimous opinion of my household, an attempt to knit beautiful socks, which I wrote about in previous article, turned out to be successful. And, as usually happens in such cases, this was followed by phrases like: “I want those too!”

That is, they demanded a continuation. That's why the red socks went to my daughter, and for my son I decided to knit these green ones.

But of course I didn’t want to completely repeat the previous version, so I present to you a new version. The technology for knitting socks is the same as what I described in the above-mentioned article, but here there is a different elastic band, a slightly different pattern, and it is designed for a larger number of loops.

So, now we knit men's socks with knitting needles. These socks are knitted from PEKHORKA “Magnificent” yarn (less than 100 g of yarn was needed for socks of size 42) on 5 double needles No. 2.75.

We cast on 54 loops (for this elastic band the number of loops should be divided by 3). In the first row we immediately distribute it onto 4 knitting needles: 14, 13, 14 and 13 loops. We connect in a circle and knit an elastic band with offset loops.

Description of elastic band with offset loops for knitting in the round:

Pattern repeat consists of 3 loops and 2 rows.

1st row: *K2, P1*;

2nd row: *cross 2 loops to the right, or knit a second loop over the first (you can do this: pick up the second loop of 2 knit stitches with the right knitting needle from the bottom left and knit it with the knit one behind the top wall. Without removing this loop from the left knitting needle, knit the knit stitch behind the top wall of the first loop and then remove 2 loops from the left needle at once), 1 purl loop*.

We knit an elastic band of the required height. After this, we knit one row with facial loops and proceed to knitting the pattern according to the pattern. The pattern was created specifically for knitting in the round, that is, all rows are knitted on the front side of the work. One row in a circle will contain 2 repeats of the pattern.

We knit in a circular pattern according to the pattern to the required height (I got 8 repeats of the pattern in height), then we move on to knitting the heel.

How to knit a heel is described in detail, step by step, in article about red socks, so I won’t repeat it here. The only difference is in the number of loops: for the heel I selected 21 loops from the middle of one pattern repeat, + 2 loops were added for the edge loops from the broaches between adjacent loops - a total of 23 loops. I divided it into 3 parts like this: 7 loops, 9 loops, 7 loops, and knitted further, as described in the above-mentioned previous article.

Next, we also continue to knit as described earlier: the top of the sock with a pattern, the heel and bottom - stockinette stitch. Having knitted to the required size, we cut the loops for the toe in the previously described way.

OK it's all over Now. If you like it, implement it and knit it. Thank you in advance for your feedback and comments.

When knitting men's socks, you need to use warm, durable knitting needles so that they fit the leg well and are decorated with a discreet pattern. I propose to knit men’s socks in the classic way on five double needles, with a “braid” pattern, which, like an elastic band, tightens the fabric, so the socks will fit tightly on the legs. To make the socks durable, you should strengthen the heel and toe; to do this, use a strong additional thread when knitting these sections.

Description of knitting men's socks for foot size 42:

Yarn for knitting socks can be used with any composition - wool blend or 100% acrylic, you will need about 75 g. medium thickness yarn, 5 knitting needles No. 2.5 and an additional knitting needle for braids. To knit a reinforced heel and toe, take any strong thin yarn, you can use cotton threads.

Knitting men's socks is based on the classic method using 5 double needles. To start knitting a sock on 4 knitting needles, cast on 18 stitches, for a total of 72 stitches. Close the first and last knitting needle with the cast-on loops into a ring and continue knitting in the round.

Knit the first circular row with a 2x2 rib pattern, alternating 2 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches. Next, when knitting in a circle with an elastic band pattern, in the next rows over the front loops, knit 2 front loops according to the pattern and over the purl ones - 2 purl loops. Knit a 2x2 elastic band for the sock cuff to a length of 3 cm.

Then continue knitting with a 4x2 elastic band, alternately performing 4 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches in the first row. In the next rows, knit the pattern in a circle according to the pattern, knit knit stitches above the knit stitches, and purl stitches above the purl stitches.

After 6 rows, make weaves through one track of knit stitches, crossing 2x2 knit stitches into small “braids”. To do this, remove the first 2 knit stitches onto an additional knitting needle, leave them before work, knit the next 2 knit stitches, then knit the loops from the additional knitting needle. Knit another 6 rows with a 4x2 elastic band, then make weaves in the front rows you skipped last time, then the “braids” in the pattern will be staggered. Do alternate weaves every 6 rows. Knit the cuff to the desired length, 12-15 cm.

The heel for the sock is knitted using the classic method. First, attach an additional thread to the main thread to strengthen the knitting. Start knitting the heel of the sock by knitting loops only from two knitting needles in straight and reverse rows = 36 loops, knitting knit stitches on the front side and purl stitches on the wrong side. Always remove edge loops to form a chain around the edge.

Knit the heel to a height of 6 cm, then divide all the loops into 3 parts, 12 loops each. Next, knit only the central 12 loops, also in stockinette stitch. Always remove the first loop without knitting, and place the thread on the front side behind the work, on the wrong side - in front of the work. Always knit the last 12th loop of the central part together with the first loop from the side part, on the wrong side knit 2 purls together, on the front side - 2 knits together with a broach. Decrease until all the stitches on the sides of the heel are completed, leaving only the central 12.

Heel to toe Knitted using the classic method. First, attach an additional thread to the main thread to strengthen the knitting. Having knitted the heel of the sock, start knitting the main part, continuing to knit in the round. To do this, on the sides of the heel, additionally cast on loops in the first row; they and the remaining 12 loops from the heel will be the bottom part of the sock, they should be divided into 2 knitting needles. The loops from two knitting needles from the cuff, 18 loops on each, will continue the upper part of the sock; you should continue to knit a 4x2 elastic pattern on them, making “braid” weaves through the strip every 6 rows.

When knitting the first 4-5 rows of the main part of the sock, decrease on the sides from the loops of the bottom part. To do this, on the right side, knit 2 knit loops together with a broach, on the left side, knit 2 knit loops together. These decreases are needed to reduce the toe on the instep. Next, knit the sock in the round until the end of your little finger.

To finish knitting a sock, work the toe with decreases on the sides, but first attach an additional thread so that the knitted sock does not tear on your fingers. Decrease on the toe on the sides, on the right side at the end of one knitting needle, knit 2 loops together with the knitting needle, the first 2 loops on the next knitting needle, knit 2 loops together with a broach. On the left side, on the contrary, knit the last 2 loops from the knitting needle together with a knit stitch, the first two loops on the next knitting needle together with one loop. Decrease on the toe until there are 2 loops left on 4 knitting needles, 8 loops in total, then cut the working thread, pull the tip through the remaining loops, removing them from the knitting needles. Tighten a piece of thread and secure it to the inside of the sock.

The second sock is knitted in the same way as the first.
